Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems, not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. Old, Nerdy.

Outside waiting: App: "Now your driver is Steve, they have a <Honda>" Me: "ok ..." Get in with Steve On they way out of my neighborhood: I see Dave and his Toyota driving in ... What the actual fuck is going on @ Lyft? Holy shit.

New one. Checked the app to see I didn't get double-billed for two drivers. The "All" tab on the "Rides" history doesn't show anything. But if I go to the "Family" sub-tab it shows the ride. I guess "All" isn't really "All"?

Scheduling From: <here> To: <there> No "go" button. No indication of how to proceed. I had to ask an AI, and it suggested "re-select both from and to fields" -- that worked, now it's on to "select type of car". Thanks Claude.

Select a ride: App: "Looking for driver" Text msg: "Your driver is Dave, 7 minutes away" App: "Looking for driver" <kill and restart app> App: "Ok, driver on the way, Dave has a <Toyota>"

I've never seen a game so actively hostile to players as Rain World. Zero information on how to control your character. Apparently zero key or mouse bindings by default. I've had to alt-F4 out of it twice now because after the game starts, nothing works.

Me leaving the grocery store: "Man, all I need now is some yellow bumps to shake the ever living fuck out of my cart! That'd be great!"

I gotta call out NXP (nxp.com) here: Get email from NXP. Click Unsubscribe. "What's your email address?" ❌ Strike one "Please log in" ❌ Strike two "Your password is out of date, change your password" ❌ Strike 3 "We sent you a confirmation email, enter the code" ❌ Strike fucking FOUR.

Pasting the number in the verification field DOESN'T WORK, I have to type it manually ❌ Strike FIVE How did you manage to fuck up unsubscribing SO BADLY. Fire your web team and close your website in shame.

I'm not impressed. It seemed to have trouble maintaining temperature, melting solder, or even staying on. And I was using a beefy USB-C power brick that can output 65W. So we switched KSEGER T-12, which worked much better.

All this because I didn't feel like dragging the Metcal out of the garage, where it's kinda permanently ensconced on the workbench. Eutectic Pb/Sn, solder if anyone is wondering.

If you send me an email with an unsubscribe link that takes me to a web page that then asks me what my email address is, you need to fuck off and turn in your developer card.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum. Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum. Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum. ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

If you put this on a website in 2025, you've failed as a web developer. Idempotency for this sort of thing has been a solved problem since before the WWW.

The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"

Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952

RIGHT ON 👊🏽 I voted YES on 50 (a temporary measure to level the playing field) and my ballot was already counted. Join me— remember to vote, and tell your friends and neighbors to do the same. #VoteYesOnProp50

In November, I am voting yes on Prop 50 and making sure my friends and family do too. This was legit my commute this morning. If you zoom in, there are buzzards flying overhead. TRUMP • REVENGE • CHAOS • CORRUPTION

And just like that, the right wing proved that the only problem they had with cancel culture, was that it was only ever done from the grassroots up, instead of hand-in-glove government-corporation style, as god had intended.

This better secretly have a whole Onion Digital Surveillance Squad inside doing facial recognition on all the ICE agents

The Onion News Network truck is currently stationed outside the Broadview ICE Detention facility just outside of Chicago.

"only place I'd ever stop" ... "mob fights" Does he think that all non-Cracker-Barrel restaurants are some sort of post-apocalyptic Mad-Max-esque hellhole? WTF?
