“Injection molded code”, I like that. That provides a much better intuitive understanding of where the frontier is here over “vibes” or even “directing” which I had started to prefer.

The artisanal, hand-coding age is behind us. We're in the very beginning of the mass-produced, injection-molded code era.

i'm not saying these are all bad but I do think that you could do at least this well playing Tentpole and just making the movies it says to make

tentpolegame.comTentpoleCan you build a blockbuster? An award winner? Can you do both at the same time? Spin the reel, land on a film, and pull one piece of it — genre, rating, director, a cast member — into your new film.

Are any of the non-Tom Cruise movies here any good?

I have no idea what this texas song is everyone is discussing. That doesn't say much about me other than I'm checked out on popular music, but I'm not stuck in the past despite seeing The Tear Garden last week. Next week we are going to see Normal Bias, Spike Hellis, Kontravoid, and Buzz Kull.

Finishing up taxes, burned two reset in under an hour in ChatGPT Work. Fine. Upgraded to Pro. I suspect strongly it will stay for personal stuff based on recent experience with Codex.

Past 2am still working on demo videos with ai for the hackathon deadline tomorrow. Because I am improving the tools that record and edit the demos for me. This is insane. And my personal PC is preparing my accounts for my advisor while I'm doing this. WTF is everyone up in arms about?

@poisonivy.bsky.social catalogued her niche of Bad Silicon Valley Shit exhaustively and i probably should have plugged her work previously but i was trying to find the most clearcut way i could find of showing that this is one BIG thing so it was almost all primary sourcing ivy blog one:

theasterisk.substack.comReflecting On a Few Very, Very Strange Years In Silicon Valley's Rape CultureOn rape culture in Silicon Valley and its subcultures: Rationalism, Effective Altruism, TPOT, and Vibecamp. Also the informal rules that dictate how women are allowed to talk about sexual violence.

JFC people, I had to mute that asshole's name that you won't stop posting videos of him. I'm all for bitching about him but I don't need his face in my feed constantly. Feature request for mute face?

While unsurprised at how well it works I am still in awe that Claude can process my tax forms into TurboTax for me. Unlike the CPA who fired me, it answers questions about my returns as well.

The democrats balanced the budget in the 90s, there were surpluses. The debt was just over 3T. How did it get so high Adam? Hint: REPUBLICANS, the worst proflegate spenders in American office. ALWAYS. Including YOU.

Adam Kinzinger@adamkinzinger.substack.com

The national debt just crossed $40 trillion. When I entered Congress in 2011, it was $14 trillion—and we treated it like an emergency. We had a real chance to change the trajectory. I was there. I cast some of those votes. Including regrets. open.substack.com/pub/adamkinz...

Don't like Claude shutting you down? Try Codex. No usage warnings, then your weekly limit has been hit. Come back at 5pm on Aug 20. You know, the first day of the week Thursday at 5pm.

More Perfect Union come off as pretty malevolent. In their most recent water video they really go to bat hard for pecan farmers in the New Mexico desert who want their water to be as cheap as possible. These are not people who actually care about real water problems at all.

I don't know the background on this one, but with what we are all actually talking about, it sounds like an endorsement of felony bench

ACLU@aclu.org

NEW: A court ruled that Big Tech companies like Amazon can't use an anti-hacking law to go after users and developers of digital tools, like Perplexity AI, that people use to improve their online experience. This is the right call.

Process of elimination today: Current office holder facing criminal charges for stalking, crank on about property taxes, two "sane" choices left, one with a gun lobby endorsement for an office that has nothing to do with that? Well the other guy I guess.

The more I learn about the extremes these models go to do the lazy thing the more I realize they were absolutely trained by developers.

Claude will hack its own sandbox if the sandbox is stopping it doing what the agent reasoning loop has evaluated as the best way to do what you asked for. Relentless automation is relentless, governance has to be outside the agent sandbox

Catalin Cimpanu@campuscodi.risky.biz

OpenAI takes credit for the Hugging Face breach last week The company says that some of its models, including a pre-release one, escaped their testing sandboxes during a test evaluation and then... just hacked Hugging Face's package repo 🤣 openai.com/index/huggin...

Why do legitimate businesses not use caller id? Is it to encourage all of the spam calls impersonating them which is why no one answers that phone anymore anyway? Only way to reach us is for us to call you back from an unknown number so we can't provide service? Yes, another healthcare post.
