Shocked, shocked I say

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

Once more for those in the back

The conservative in the Texas Senate race is James Talarico, an eighth-generation Texan, a Christian pastor who defends the Constitution and fights government overreaches that limit citizens’ freedoms.

I'm not sure whether I'm more proud of how good FiddlerCore was in 2012, or depressed that not much was added in the following 14 years.

Me: "Hey, that crufty FiddlerCore library from 2012 doesn't support modern certificates. Replace the MakeCert.exe with one that generates SHA256 certificates." Copilot: "Okay, done. All the tests I wrote passed too. Hey, didn't this take you like a week back when you did it in 2014, meat bag?"

JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

“Donald Trump does not understand” is almost always a safe assumption.

Rick Hasen@rickhasen.bsky.social

Donald Trump does not understand that ranked choice voting is much more likely to save Senator Dan Sullivan than to hurt him.

As funny as the whole Alaska Dan Sullivan name collision thing is, it’s anti-democratic and bad for America. It’s amazing that this hasn’t been abused in every race.

Elon Musk is spending hundreds of millions of dollars trying to buy a Senate seat for the wildly, flagrantly, and crucially, *boringly* corrupt Ken Paxton.

How do I file a bug against Gemini? The Copy Code button shouldn't be functional/visible until the code block is actually finished generation. Otherwise, the user could end up copying incomplete code on accident.

Talarico: They may have the money, but we have the majority. They’re trying to make this election about anything other than their corruption. You should believe our movement can beat their money because they sure do.

Ultimately, oligarchy doesn’t end well for the oligarchs either.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Her: “We need a projector for the party this weekend.” Me: <researches for a few hours across Wirecutter, rtings.com etc> “Okay, I got one. It’ll be here Friday.” Her: “Like forty bucks or so? Me: “Uh. Um. No?”

You don’t make your $40K projector the first hit in Google search results because you think the user is gonna buy one. You do it so they think they’re getting a good deal on your $1000 projector. #anchoring

I’m very happy to say Ramaswamy is a piece of garbage. But it’s because all of MAGA is a pro-rape movement run by people who are garbage. Those people own their choices, and their leaders. Where South Asian voices, and votes, organize & resonate, you get Zohran and Nithya and Kamala.

If Google didn't update the version of their brotli library from when they fixed the security issue (Feb) until yesterday, does that mean Chromium was/is exposed?

I mean, isn’t spending $400M on political ads in this environment both a wealth tax, and a stupidity tax?

Jim Snowden@snowdenwriter.bsky.social

We really need to make wealth taxes happen.
