I quit doing Halloween costumes because: A) I wear glasses, and B) That's about it. I desperately need them to see & that limits my options pretty severely. Also, shaving my beard RIGHT as the weather gets cold sucks. Shaved my head to be Dr. Venture one year & it was the worst November ever.

Watching a screener to interview the writer/director ... said interview is at 9pm. This officially beats the 8pm Alice Cooper interview as the latest I've done a Q&A. Oof.

You know your family is interesting when you send your brother a picture of the dead bat you found in the attic at work & he responds with "Hell yeah, can I have it!!" πŸ’€πŸ¦‡

Just dying laughing thinking yesterday was a bad sinus headache. Plz end me.

Rain/storms coming in the early morning hours tomorrow, which means tonight's trivia will be hosted by a man with an ever-growing sinus headache. Thankfully, liquor & caffeine helps, so that pre-game whiskey shot & Diet Coke will be somewhat beneficial.

Trivia went well, with even the most knowledgeable horror nerds declaring the final round to be "brutal." All that AND I found $25 in the alley on the walk back to the car! The kittens are upset we left the house again, however, & causing a ruckus.

From a recommended Insta post, I now know who the person on their phone was during the MANTIS screening during Nightmare in the Ozarks & I will listen to their podcast & judge them.

Listen: we know WWE (specifically the McMahons) is a lousy company, but dangit, we love Danhausen. This AND Halloween Havoc in the same week is the creepy squared circle action we need in our lives. Very nice, very evil.

Now that laundry & putting things away & emails have been addressed, we're catching up on shows & eating pizza & pretending we don't have to work tomorrow morning. Vacation is much a state of mind as getting out of town. No need to IMMEDIATELY stop having fun because we're home again.

I'm internally contextualizing this by meditating on how insane with rage someone arguing we will need to preserve the tacky ballroom for reasons of historicity would make me

An enormous fire all but destroyed an infamous Nazi-era guesthouse known as the Eagle’s Nest in southern Germany, according to the police, who said on Saturday that a man had been arrested in connection with the blaze.

I'm blocking @mary1kathy.bsky.social and adding the account to my blocklists. Life is too short and the times are too serious to fuck around with disinformation and "A.i." bullshit. For accountability, here's the screenshot of the video they posted.

We are not at the Eureka Special zombie walk, but do know that we can hear it & the soundtrack is ACTUAL Halloween music. Not a "Bad Moon Rising" or "Zombie" to be heard, but fuck yes Kip Tyler's "She's My Witch." It slaps.

Anyhow, seeing what a tourist bar is like at midnight on a Friday is a LOT of positively shithammered folks. Almost scarier than the movies I watched today.

Staying up 'til midnight watching horror movies with a like-minded crowd is fucking lovely. The comedown from Nightmare in the Ozarks is gonna be rough. There's a 50/50 chance I find a bar after this & stay out 'til last call writing trivia questions.

Taking a shower before bed last night was a great idea. Still iffy on whether hiking a mile up a steep hill to hit the grocery store(s) & coffee shop was good or not, but this lavender latte is pretty damn worthwhile. Porch hangs until we go see Larry Fessenden's TRAUMA, OR MONSTERS ALL in an hour.

We did fine. We had a blast. Great food. These folks won.

Gonna go see what it's like to do horror trivia at a horror film fest. We will either be humbled or rock it. Team name: Our Creature Presentation.

We got to watch Caroline Williams' new movie, DEATH CAME KNOCKING, with her as she saw it for the first time & it was totally worth powering through some late in the day exhaustion. Would recommend.

Sitting on the porch at the AirBnB, reading a book, drinking water. I can see the ballroom where they're screening stuff, but I think I need to take this a little less firehose or I'm gonna get overwhelmed.

Somehow managed to make it back in time, but I will not be climbing those 6 flights of stairs again. Once I leave, I'm out. Thay said, looks like 3 more shorts blocks before we hoof it to trivia.

2 shorts blocks watched. Decided to go for a walk to grab a sandwich & a beer while I decide whether more shorts or RISE OF THE RATS or sitting on this adorable patio with a book.

Even attending a film festival, we found a way to bring you a new episode (I edited it the night before we left).

The Carnage Report@reportcarnage.bsky.social

On this episode of the podcast, Julie and Nick take a look at V/H/S/Mixtape, the latest installment in the long-running horror anthology series, now streaming on Shudder. Also they discuss their VHS recording preferences and what you could find on their homemade tapes!
