every time I see someone say they wish they could have been an anime fan in the 1980s, I think of this

"We would have given up and returned these cards to my partner’s grandmother if not for the lifetime of internal shame we would carry with us as a result of quitting here." It's more shameful to go through the process outlined here than to just not do it. Remember this.

Don't vote for that guy. He sucks so much.

TORONTO TONIGHT: There's a free screening of the Canadian animated classic THE DEVIL AND DANIEL MOUSE on 35mm at Innis, with the director and a cast member in attendance! You can register for the screening here: libcal.library.utoronto.ca/event/407791...

RIP Eric Bauza, one of the greatest of all time. Did almost every single one of those voices in Coyote vs Acme. Someone who clearly loved these characters so much that he wasn't just doing Mel Blanc, he made them his own.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Loved reading BARBARIC: A comic series that is essentially what if Conan had the attitude of Hellboy, and was forced to do good deeds by a talking blood hungry axe.

FATHER-IN-LAW TO MY SON: Oh, you like this guitar? I could play a song for you I'm working on... SON: Okay! Father-in-law plays Wonderwall on guitar. ME: Hey!!!!

Hail to the Queen Baby! Talking about the Blood Red Evil Dead 2 Laserdisc!

Went to go pick up my wife's running kit for the Niagra Falls 10k and was surprised to see people dressed as the cast of Rocky Horror were walking through the parking lot "That takes dedication!" Then we saw a Jason, a Chucky and a Terrifier. "Oh, horror convention" Archie really wanted popcorn.

My favourite gaming systems at the moment: 1. STEAM DECK 2. AYN THOR (LOOKS DOWN THE LIST) 10. SWITCH 2 Those wobby controllers are the Switch 2 always bug me.

Started DOGSRED from the beginning, and yeah, it's a perfect sports series.

Not on my 2026 bingo card: Legendary actor Tetsuro Tamba's totally baffling quasi-religious cult film The Great Spirit World: What Happens When You Die is getting a 4K remaster that will screen as part of the Tokyo International Film Festival on 10/27. Takashi Miike will host a talk session after.

anytime someone still gets worked up about that thing Ebert said about games, just imagine Gene Shalit being a hardcore gamer and have a laugh as I do

Unlocked! The exp. spooktacular continues with the surprising story of a video nasty that became a nasty video game. It's Palace Software's take on Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead:

A24 PRESENTS: A film that used to be called OCTOBER, but they couldn't get it out for October, so now it's called SLAYGROUND, even though it's still filled with Halloween content. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXAJ...

The popular monsters of the era reflect the cultural zeitgeist. In the 2000s, it was zombies. In the 2010s, it was vampires. And now, it's women!
