So I discovered last week that I don't need 12 testers using my app for 14 days to launch it. I'd registered as an organisation so I can do it any time. The question then becomes... Is it ready for public release? Work in progress to get it there. Exciting!

I have ordered a cat litter (wood pellets) delivery that arrives peak heatwave. The need is desperate, but at what cost? Well, £80, but I mean I should probably have a cold bottle on standby for the deliverer.

I've spent a year building a food app that tracks your shopping and helps you waste less. It works fully offline, no account needed. It's in closed beta, but Google won't let me launch until 12 Android users stay opted in for a fortnight.

Urban heat is a now-problem. Street trees take 20 years to canopy. The gap between problem and solution is where the design opportunity sits. Crazy idea: plant new saplings inside an exoskeleton...

As the canopy fills in over 5-10 years, the structure modularly decommissions. Panels come off in stages. Or biopolymer / mycelium variants with timed decay. Sapling matures, structure retires.

Elevated shade structure above sapling height to provide cooling on day one, leaves the tree's growing tip in sunlight. Doubles as protection from cars, dogs, vandalism.

It's probably been a good thing that I haven't been able to get many testers yet. (Shout out to [redacted], you're a real one!) I've ended up doing an additional security audit that's turned into a couple of weeks of work on auth, encryption and data control.

Okay but hopefully this is enough to keep people's data safe until I can get a professional security/privacy audit.

If your brain is struggling due to anxiety, sadness, the way others have behaved,ADHD, autism, burnout, chronic illness &/or because the world’s too full of grimness then hi,me too. Research shows my photo’ll provide relief for your thoughts-pause & zoom into the details-& keep going, you’re not alone 🌿

Social media continues to be a space where I'm slightly terrified to say anything. Including the medium of air.

Jinsei Kitchen is still in closed beta for Android on the Play Store - it's a privacy-first food waste app I've been building solo. If you're in the UK and would be up for trying it for a couple of weeks, please reply or DM (or check out the sign up on the website).

This is a huge mental struggle right now. My coordination is very wonky. Brain foggy. Being very careful not to drop anything. But it will be so yummy!

Finally got my app to a state for internal testing on the Play Store!... And everyone I know uses Apple. Whyyyy

In case you can’t get out today & are scrolling &/or feeling low here’s a small film I made-when we see the patterns in plants we can recover from stress 60% more quickly & when we look at something we find beautiful our brains release dopamine, lifting mood. Watch for the small good surprise 🌿

Merry Christmas. May you find love and connection this time of year. Know that the sun is returning as the druids foretold, and feast merrily, safe in the knowledge that life shall return to these lands.

I take care of a disabled friend. He got switched from ESA to Universal Credit. His council tax discount has been reduced from about £1,000 to about £100. He gets the first bill before the first payment. This is insane. What the fuck. Bills are already tight before this stealth benefit cut.

So uh, right, social media-ing. Brain fog set in early today. Vacuumed the house. Waited for my friend's guests. They were late. Best behaviour. How to human ? Forget how to human. ストレス。 Dinner time. Ninja still dirty. Bung everything^1 in the oven. Drop some broccoli. Try to rinse. Drop it more. 写真

I feel like I should try to use social media more. Also less. Getting caught up in doomscrolling a lot lately. It's good to stay informed, but the consumption is consuming. The consumer becomes the consumed. I guess that's one of the major contemporary issues. Oh no, a length limit approaches.

Oh hey, there's a plus button to add another message. That's neat. So to carry on my attempt to post authentically, as suggested when I offloaded my thinking to a mighty thinking machine, in sharing a part of ourselves with others we become connected. Interconnected. I feel I should connect more.

You are up to date.
