Tonight there's a lavish gala celebrating the 175th anniversary of @nytimes.com. Our @nytimesguild.bsky.social members invited themselves -- to let the bosses know it's time for a FAIR CONTRACT NOW.
Yesterday we were able to join in the NYC Labor Day Rally and stand in solidarity with our organizing community. These days can feel uncertain and difficult given the labor environment we’re in, but it’s bolstering to remember that we can handle whatever is thrown our way, and that we’re never alone

This US Labor Day, we're celebrating our NLRB election landslide win✊️ We're proud of this milestone and our strong union. Excited for what's next as we work to make WMF the best workplace it can be across our global workforce. Chaotic Enby's full quote [1], one of 2,000 volunteers who stood with us:

Brushed off my editorial skills for this one and couldn't be prouder. These movements aren't built in one moment, it's a series of messy, complicated collective decisions. longhaulmag.com/first-tech-w...

THEY WILL NOT BACK DOWN: Today @reuters.com bosses, who are feeling the heat from our Reuters Guild, illegally interrogated our members who flyered in company President Paul Bascobert’s neighborhood. Our members rallied in protest and we filed a ULP. More here… nyguild.org/post/unioniz...

This is how we make a difference in our industry ✊🔥👏
Here’s what we’ve won by fighting together: ✅ 8%+ raises—largest in UPTE history ✅ $25/hr minimum wage ✅ Healthcare premium caps ✅ Up to 12 months of parental leave ✅ 30-day notice for remote/hybrid changes 25,000+ workers made this happen. #UnionStrong #UC #ResetUCPriorities
We will not sit passively as new technology is used to monitor and surveil us without our consent. This is why we have a contract; this is why we fight.
TAKING LEGAL ACTION: The @nytguildtech.bsky.social is using AI technology to monitor and surveil the performance of our @nytguildtech.bsky.social members in violation of their collective bargaining agreement. More here... nyguild.org/post/newsgui... ..
New technology doesn’t mean companies like @nytimes.com can ignore our collective bargaining agreements.
Exclusive: Unionized tech workers at the New York Times have filed grievances accusing management of using AI-powered performance tools to track and discipline staff. The Tech Guild says recent disciplinary notices appear to be generated using one of the tools. 🎁 www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...

Proud to stand with workers always! This morning, I joined my own union, @opeiulocal153.bsky.social, for a rally to celebrate the organizing work of @kickstarterunited.org and to call out Kickstarter's horrible union-busting retaliation against their workers. Solidarity forever! 🥖🌹

The Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism (@thebaltimorebanner.com) has begun its ownership of the @post-gazette.com by cutting at least 40% of staff, and 80% of former strikers. It is sad, vindictive, and does not bode well for what we’ve fought and hoped for, including the success of the PG.

It was a busy week with our annual on-site for engineering. We were thrilled to support our Times Guild coworkers in their fight for remote work protections, affordable healthcare and a fair contract yesterday at the @nytimes.com all-company meeting.
So proud of our very own Talha Rahman as he advocated for the importance of unionization in tech on Sunday at the @unionnow.org rally in NYC! Grateful for the support of @sanders.senate.gov , @mayor.nyc.gov and excited to keep pushing for better for our members 🔥💪✊

Yesterday, our members in New York, D.C., Chicago and across the country walked out to demand a fair contract. We deserve job security. We deserve to know AI won’t be used to replace us. We know that @propublica.org can and must do better.
Our contract clearly lists caretaking as a justifiable reason for a remote work request, and Rich has proven he is a capable and dedicated employee. actionnetwork.org/petitions/te... Tell NYT to do the right thing and protect remote work for Rich.
If you care about AI protections, this fight is your fight - our fight 💪👏🔥 standing with you all through this.

Heartless actions from @nytimes.com management are stopping our coworker from caring for his 96-year-old father, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
Rich is his father’s certified caretaker, and his request to work remote is outlined and protected by our contract. Doesn’t seem like a lot to ask, but management’s response has been icy: back to the office or else. Tell @nytimes.com to do the right thing. actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...

Today, NYT celebrates their successes from the past year, but we are witnessing a major failure of leadership: @nytimes.com mgmt is denying one of our members, Rich Quan, permission to continue working remote, even as a certified caregiver for his 96-year-old father, who suffers from Alzheimer's.

Rich Quan worked remotely as a caregiver for 6 years, but is now being told to abandon his 96-year-old father, who is in an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s Disease, for…office culture? This is corporate sadism disguised as policy. SHAME on @nytimes.com 👎
