every now and then someone reads this old post and i go back and look at the quotes and replies people left and it makes me smile

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

I’m completely shellshocked and can barely even begin to think. Eric Bauza was always so sweet and encouraging to me in all the times we talked together, he’d leave such kind encouraging comments on my art and knew I loved his Daffy enough to sing happy birthday to me in his voice.

I totally get why Chuck Jones beefed with Bob Clampett, if my coworker was putting out shit that funny on the regular I'd be jealous as fuck

R.I.P. to Eric Bauza Out of all the actors who voiced the rabbit, you were the one who came the closest to Mel's original voice. You should've been around for 40 more years to voice him.

this fucking sucks this fucking sucks i've never felt the like "1st stage: denial" for a celebrity death before but oh my god, it's hitting. this does not feel real. fuck me man

part of why im so brainwormed about it (besides absolutely adoring the couple games in it that I do) is that trying to peel back the layers of "why do I care about this series I ostensibly want to engage with as works of art"

there were too many things working against the series in the latter half of its existence to say "if EA just..." but to go from the 15th best selling game franchise in history to the last studio entrusted with it saying "We're not here to talk about the past" at their 30th anniversary celebration?

I'm really gesellschaft-headed about 99.9% of things, but this was an area where it went wrong. There should be no outwardly legible process to determine who can live where

it is very funny that jack dorsey usually does literally believe what he says, he's just bad at it

Grace@gracekind.net

I’m confused, isn’t this exactly his intention?

"nickel and dime" is such a great dad phrase for ripping you off, im gonna start saying "quarter and dime" as an era appropriate equivalent

i've been playing my "guess who directed the looney tunes short" game with someone who has no idea who any of the looney tunes directors are and she's decided it's the funniest thing ever to try gaslighting me into thinking every short was done by Robert McKimson

i think this really succinctly gets at why, despite "What's happening?" doing a better job of capturing what made twitter *useful,* i can't help but feel like something was lost when they dropped "What are you doing?" as the text in the blank white tweet prompt

i think the tension has always been "useful" vs "fun." twitter always wanted to be useful (for news, social movements, marginalized communities) and was quite genuinely punished for it in the end. instagram went for "fun" (seeing sexy photos and sharing them with your friends) and...

articles like this are gold because they're usually a laundry list of problems that twitter still hadn't solved in 2022 and as such are almost wholly imported by bluesky. i know PBC has no shortage of their own ideas to grow bsky but by being a near shot for shot recreation of something that...

struggled for years just to get on the pathway to sustainability, there's already a decade of writing about the missed opportunities and paths-not-traveled that, if explored deeper, could have created far less of a torment nexus than what twitter was even at its prime.
