No sleep, but the branches ominously hanging over my head for the past number of years are finally gone. We'll see when the next storm rolls through if my anxiety will let me relax some. Here's hoping.

I was planning on getting a nap in and was just told they're finally today removing the giant branches hanging above our home. Yeah, not sure I could sleep through that. To be fair, the last time they did major tree removal by me, I was in the throes of a wicked Covid infection. So, still better.

There are a lot of helicopters that go over our heads. We live in between DC and Bedminster, though, so I give every one I see a hearty middle finger. Just on the chance it's him.

What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

Also, I found the big chunk of energy I needed and was able to fully clear off and clean our deck, which was a pretty big endeavor as nature was making a good attempt at trying to take it back. Not today, nature. Not today.

Took a while, and I've probably made some mistakes, but I finally curated a list of all you fine people and all your fantastic thoughts to use as my main feed. Trying it out, it's already better. But now you all can see it. Decent list of people to follow, though.

Wife and I felt like tacos tonight, so we went to a local chain we've never been to before. I pick it up, and realize I *have* been here before, but when it used to be a popular Friends-style coffee house in the late 90s/early 00s. Coffee house to chain tacos. Wild.

Spent a good portion of tonight just talking about life with someone at a community event. Took a while before I asked what they did, or what relation they had to the event, and they were like "Oh, I'm the town mayor". We seem to run into our representatives a lot more than I'd expect.
