I took Jona's knife and looked at it again. It was just a knife, but it wasn't. I felt calm, warmth, life. “Will you come with me?” I thought, before closing my eyes. Status: V3 / Q4 / F2

We survived, but we still haven’t found a home. Read the full Day 1 here: bsky.app/profile/oieu... See you on Day 3! 🔥

Hey folks! I've been a bit quiet here, but the past few weeks have been hectic. I'm back with a gameplay series of #HerOdyssey by @mirror-lock.bsky.social! 😀 This game is amazing, and I thought it'd be fun to share my journey. Let's go! #uoshiplaysherodyssey #ttrpg #journaling #solorpg

Checking “Auspicious/Unauspicious Day”: V3 + Q4 + F4 = 11. Omen Score: 2. It is an auspicious day +

I leaned against an ancient tree with a thick trunk, making sure I wasn't exposed. I felt exhausted, breathless. Only then did I realize the wounds on my legs were nothing but scars. As if months had passed in the space of a few hours +

I got up, grabbed some supplies, herbs, and medicine, and shoved everything into a sack as quickly as I could. The screams had stopped. Now there were only sobs, whispers, and weeping. The creatures were satisfied and left. So did I. I don't think anyone noticed my sobbing, or my tears +

I tucked Jona's knife into my coat, kept Lua's smile in my memory, and stumbled away into the night, numb, heading back to Brumvar +

It vanished into the black of his pupil, then appeared again beneath his skin. It slid down his neck, across his shoulders and arms, until it reached his hand. I hadn't noticed he was resting that hand on my injured arm +

As the glow passed into my skin, my arm looked as though it had never been wounded at all. The light continued across my chest, into my other arm, then seeped into the blade. It shone like the sun, then went dark. It was just an ordinary pocketknife again. I think +

I reached the cottage door, but I was too late. I slammed it open and crushed the head of a creature that leapt at me at the sound. Jona lay on the floor, choking, a hole in his chest. I wanted to end his suffering. I had to. (F check: d4 = 4) +

He was holding a small knife. He'd been trying to defend himself. I took the blade, but before I could ease his pain, he shook his head in permission, his eyes fixed on mine. After his final breath, something golden shimmered in Jona's right eye +

I grabbed the mace from what remained of the soldier and headed toward her. But before I could do anything, I froze as Lua was dragged away at terrifying speed, into the darkness of the woods surrounding the village. I swallowed hard and remembered Jona +

My eyes swept across the chaos. I hurried toward the house, using the mace to fend off the creatures. Some people were still resisting, still fighting. A feline corpse here and there lay on the ground. “At least they can be killed...” +

Then, in the blink of an eye, half the soldier's torso vanished, and a shower of blood drenched me. Screams erupted everywhere. Horror in every direction. Strange, shadowy felines leapt from the darkness, pouncing on everyone. I used every ounce of strength I had to get onto my knees +

I pressed a hand to the ground, crying from the pain in my shoulder, then threw my weight against it, trying to force it back into place. A snap, and I nearly blacked out. I saw Lua still lying on the ground as the lord was devoured +

I saw him toss a bag of coins into the air as he cursed. Something beyond anger and desperation rose through my body, poisoning my mind. Just as I thought I was close enough to help Lua, a blow struck my shoulder and sent me flying backward +

I felt my bones shift out of place. The pain was fucking unbearable. The soldier who had struck me with a mace stood beside me and raised his weapon again, aiming for my head. (Q check: d4 = 4) I tried to roll aside as fast as I could, but it wasn't enough +

His hoarse voice, like a squeezed pig, made it obvious he wasn't pleased. Lua went out carrying a purse of money, but told Jona to stay behind. He could only watch through the window as screams rang out amid the commotion. Lua's screams were among them +

My heart raced. I tried to stand up. (V check: d4 = 3) I felt some wounds tear open, but it wasn't enough to stop me. On my way to the door, I grabbed a cleaver from the table. Soldiers were holding people back while the old pig shouted at Lua, who lay sprawled on the ground +

He trained them like animals and turned children into servants—or rather, slaves. That was how he ruled: through terror. As she spoke, my attention drifted. Her lips, dimples, curls, her scent. She reminded me of someone familiar +

A bittersweet memory surfaced, bringing pleasure, longing, and pain all at once. I snapped out of it when an unusual commotion erupted outside. The heavy voices made it clear the lord had arrived +

The conversations were brief. They were clearly hardworking folk who didn't waste time. As afternoon approached, the mood grew tense. I heard whispers that it was tax day. The lord who ruled these lands was a greedy bastard who had killed for coins before +

Despite that, he kept the village safe from invaders and from the mountain rebels who sometimes ventured into the plains. Lua seemed more worried about Jona than anything else. She told me the lord sometimes took the younger ones if the payment wasn't enough +

The siblings were farmers, like everyone else there. They mostly grew wheat, but said they cultivated a little of everything. At lunch, other people came by. Friends, apparently; there were no relatives. They served bread, grains, honey, and wine +

Apparently, they didn't eat meat. Their livestock was only there to provide for them, they said, and no one there would ever dare kill an animal for food. I figured these generous, friendly people simply didn't know what hunger was. Good for them +

Unlucky me. It seemed I hadn't made it very far after all. They tended to my wounds, fed me, and spent hours telling me about their parents, important people in the village, and a local legend. The legend spoke of a creature with enormous feet and bat wings +

I couldn't remember its name, but it sounded more like a throat-clearing noise than an actual word. Their cottage was humble but beautiful. The treated wood of the floors and walls was slightly darkened, giving the place a warm, welcoming feel +

I also felt a strong grip around my heels, but I didn't have time to feel relieved that those two strangers weren't a hallucination. I woke to the smell of manure, mixed with something strange: wheat, almonds, and... lavender? +

The young woman approached with a smile, the boy close behind her. They were curious, strangely cheerful. We talked for quite a while. Her name was Lua, and the boy was her brother, Jona. They lived alone in what seemed to be a village near the northern edge of the clearing +

For a moment, I thought I heard distant whistles, humming voices, and wooden wheels rumbling over a dirt road, I hallucinated a young woman and a boy approaching, dragging a damn wooden cart loaded with vegetables and pulled by a donkey +

It seemed like everything would be alright... I could even hear her soft voice clearly. “Help me carry her to—” That was the last thing I understood before blacking out +

Day Two | Omen Score — 2♥️ Status: 4 Vitality (V), 5 Agility (Q), 3 Fortitude (F) I spent the entire night burning with fever. If my wounds weren't poisoned, they were at least infected with something my body couldn't fight off +

I tried to get up just before sunrise, but I couldn't even feel my legs. For a moment, I wondered if my journey could end so soon, so pathetically. Before it had even begun. My breathing grew heavy, and so did my eyelids. Rest would have been nice, but this was definitely not the kind that heals +

oddpress.itch.ioWhat Hides in the Dark by oddpressAn adventure to find constellations and survive a sinister forest 😈

We have a new version of What Hides in the Dark! Now this is a solo TTRPG, which I think makes much more sense for it + expanded the constellation map, and it turned out really cool! It’s intentionally a difficult game, and I’m hoping to publish it in about a week + oddpress.itch.io/whathidesint...

And now for the third piece of news: What Hides in the Dark will be released alongside the YAKEMY update in a Halloween bundle! 🎃 So, if you’ve been wanting to get either of my games but haven’t had the chance yet, now might be the perfect time! Keep an eye out! oddpress.itch.io

oddpress.itch.ioYAKEMY by oddpressA solo cyberpunk diary. Fix bodies. Take risks. Escape Belona 🔧

I’m updating YAKEMY’s balance. Money-based endgame didn’t make much sense, so I switched it to a number of days instead (1d6+6). I also tweaked a few other things. This will make the game more interesting and narrative-driven, while still keeping it challenging + oddpress.itch.io/yakemy

I love reading a journaling game actual play post and seeing the ways they play like I do. The way Uoshi lets their unconscious tell them the starting situation and who they are and that elements from their other play, like the Brumvar world, should be in this game, is exactly how I play.
