Messed around with the demo for this a bit! It's got a lot of the sauce of the GB Pokemon TCG games if you liked those, but is a fresh sort of game that's very board gamey! Also the art and music are _really_ cute!

Just to be clear, we do NOT use AI to make games at PUNKCAKE Délicieux. Honestly it's annoying to have to say it, but since I keep seeing "gamedevs are all secretly using it"... Well, no. AI is for losers. That's not how you make good, creative and/or meaningful games. The art is in the craft.

re-implemented tile spell effects. landing on these tiles applies the effect to the piece. it wasnt fully in the game for a while, but to balance the spell cards and certain pieces it needed to be put back in.

stress testing checkmage is something i catch myself absentmindedly doing... i hope players have fun with the chess engine, because once you've unlocked enough cards you can turn the battles into a sandbox for experimentation.

mightyvision.blogspot.comadvice on how to write about indie gamesInstead of "this game is niche" try saying "i like this game because..." Look, "niche" is not a property of a game. It's a recess in a ...

i'm at the stage of development where i'm mainly focused on polishing visual and audio effects. this a fun thing to experiment with. my hope is that people will play the game and undo/redo casting the spells just to have fun messing with things

I got to help showcase the game I'm working on at #pigcon this past weekend!! It was so much fun and I NEED to go back to the pnw, it was so beautiful! #furry #fursuit #gamedev

this is disappointing to me... ive seen a lot of this in the past few months, and i feel like some games have felt obviously poisoned by ai in their design process, even if the developers claim to not use it. checkmage and all my future projects will remain AI-free and i hope that matters to people
