I cannot see a dead fish as a "conservation success". Bluefin tuna are still rare - they only avoid being technically endangered cos they stabilised at a tiny number. That's not a healthy population, just a stable one. Let them breed and really do well before you fish for them if you have to.

I'm interested in finding and potentially supporting people who are interested in doing long-form writing on the big efforts in global health: Gavi, Global Fund, PEPFAR, etc. If this is you or someone you know, please make yourself known!

1/3 Fishing gear kills more marine life than any other form of ocean plastic. Lost nets alone threaten 66% of marine species, every sea turtle species, 50% of seabirds, whales, sharks, dolphins. The fishing industry’s deadliest hidden legacy. 🌊

Botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer writes that yellow and purple flowers grow together as their contrasting colors make them mutually irresistible to pollinators. These colors are pretty together. These buttercups and geraniums work together so both get pollinated. Isn’t it beautiful? #nature #swiss

Nearly 2 billion people live in the red area. It is becoming completely uninhabitable. What do the climate deniers, who also hate immigration, think is going to happen?

Great spotted woodpecker came visit. They often land on the old wooden pole near our yard and I always feel both awed and concerned about how much work these birds need to put in to get their food. Be kind to birds. Don’t cut trees unnecessarily, even the old dead ones. They’re someone’s dinner.

These data centers do not produce jobs. These centers raise electricity rates and create electric shortages. These centers use tens of millions of gallons of water and discharge toxic water, causing environmental pollution and noise pollution. Why are they getting billion-dollar tax breaks???

to put it plainly, i don’t think it is possible for WHO to move faster than it did. it was notified by the member states and tedros declared a PHEIC almost immediately after? the problem here is the world (especially us) failing to invest enough in preparedness

In 1966, abortion was suddenly restricted for most women in Romania. In the decades that followed, maternal mortality increased, and by the 1980s, more than 80% of maternal deaths happened as a result of abortion complications.

An absolute dream of a shot. I hope the author submitted for wild life photography pubs or awards.
