Huge nerd. I love books and people who love books, D&D, Horror, SciFi, Boardgames... Basically if the thing you're thinking of is nerdy, I probably love it. Dog and cat dad to Spike & Dandruff. He/Him https://linktr.ee/OneNerdyOpinion

It’s been 1 year since a little orange fluffball climbed my leg in the parking lot at work. Since then Dandy has grown to be a part of Spike’s and my family. She’s also gained a bunch of aunts and uncles here and I hope has brought some joy into the world. Happy Gotcha Day Dandy!

Etiquette question You know when you’re at a pumpkin patch and you go in the corn maze and you get turned around a bit but then you find that other exit that goes into like the foggy wooded clearing with like the hut, and like that old lady comes out and says

“Your coming has been foretold. There are strange portents about you and I fear you will soon meet your inevitable demise.” Are you supposed to tip her? And is it okay to tip her in the pumpkin patch’s currency? Because I converted all my cash into Pumpkoins when we got here.

How I Slept Today Spike finally got a day off from foot watch and capitalized on it with some serious snuggles. Dandy is holding down the fort, keeping the creeping menace in check.

How I Slept Today Dandy left Spike on foot duty while she came up for snuggles. Spike decided that he also wanted snuggles… I woke up to Spike squeezing in for snuggles.

Coblynau is one of my absolute favorite short stories. You can read it below or in Catherine’s collection Mists and Megaliths.

60 years ago today, the South Wales community of Aberfan was devastated by a colliery landslip that stole the lives of 144 people, including 116 young children. This week, Andy Burnham visited the cemetery and paid tribute. My personal tribute can be read here: www.houseofgamut.com/magazine/cob...

First bingo card finished. Prize and second bingo card acquired. Not sure I’ll have time to complete this one. Technically you get a prize for every bingo you make, but I have handicapped myself and only do one per blackout.

October is my local library’s Adult Reading Program month and I picked up my bingo card before the meeting tonight. Last year I finished my card early and this year they made a point that they have a second bingo card available for people who complete the first one.

Need help filling a square on this bingo card. Hoping that I can find a librarian to recommend me a book. I mainly read horror but dabble in other genres. I try not to repeat reads in the same calendar year. If you are a librarian and feel up to recommending a book, feel free to respond.

Ladybug is literally $25 CDN away from being able to get the most basic tier of the dental care she needs!

I know we're all pretty strapped right now, but @yamyamyam.bsky.social is a dear friend, and Ladybug is one of those incredibly sweet, loving, pet rock-type cats who shouldn't be in pain just because her human's financial situation has changed: www.gofundme.com/f/send-ladyb...

Just got back home. It was excellent. First time a movie has set off the “elevated heart rate” sensor on my watch that I can remember. Very good adaptation of the book.

My town just had a taco truck open up. If you’ve never experienced a small town freaking out over something new, it’s truly something to behold. The tacos were great and I hope they stay this busy.

An update: I went back today and got a quesadilla. The thing was massive and had steak chicken and shrimp on it. I personally don’t like shrimp, so I picked those off for the kiddos. Did you guys know that kittens apparently love shrimp?

Farm work begins long before the harvest. Join us in recognizing all farm workers whose hard work and dedication prepare the land. Workers like "Agustin" who drives this tractor that's preparing the soil for the upcoming lettuce season in Hollister, CA. #WeFeedYou

How I Slept Today Dandy has corralled the rogue foot into a more manageable location. Spike is still snuggling, but is keeping an eye on the feet in case backup is required.
