Just in time for #OpenAccess week! We've published our 2025-26 Annual Report at @openlibhums.org. An enormous amount of love and care goes into this report, and all of the many achievements it highlights. Please do have a read and let us know what you think.

📢 We're pleased to share OLH's 2025–26 Annual Report! Despite a challenging financial climate for higher education, our income grew by 13.6%, enabling us to welcome five new journals, including transitions from commercial publishers to #DiamondOA Read the report: www.openlibhums.org/news/1060/

As we mark #OAWeek and this year's theme, “The Cost of Knowledge”, our Annual Report offers an opportunity to reflect on how resources are allocated and how collective funding supports our #DiamondOA publishing model. A huge thank you to all our library supporters!

This year's #OAWeek theme, “The Cost of Knowledge”, resonates strongly with the questions I explored in my blog earlier this year. Making knowledge free is not just about removing paywalls, but also about how we redistribute resources to sustain the costs of diamond OA

Diamond OA is free for readers and authors, but not free to sustain. For this year's #OAWeek theme, “The Cost of Knowledge”, we revisit a blog by @paulaclemente.bsky.social on why we must redirect resources towards community-led, non-profit publishing. 🔗 www.openlibhums.org/news/932/

For #OAweek, our Executive Director Professor Caroline Edwards (@theblochian.bsky.social) spoke to SPARC about the @ojcollective.bsky.social, inspired by the Open Library of Humanities, and what motivates her to challenge academic publishing cultures. Read the interview 👇

The new UKRI research data policy is an important step, and hopefully it will create further incentives to move towards non-commercial research infrastructure and reduce proprietary lock-in.

Professor Caroline Edwards@theblochian.bsky.social

I've been quoted in today's @resprofnews.bsky.social article on UKRI's new research data policy. I think the new policy strengthens UKRI’s move away from commercial models & should help universities challenge proprietary lock-in of research data. www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-r...

I’m currently in the “happiest place on earth”, Disneyland, so more to say on this later but this is just beyond our wildest imagination all those years ago thinking “how hard can it be?” Much credit goes to @eve.gd for his ridiculous belief that I could pull off a development project of this scale.
