The collective always took care to be seen near its Queen of Queens. ⚕️🌈 🌀 Together under a rainbow & above an empty throne, once wrapped in ivory plates. Guess how many original artefacts we found around the globe? And why are Otto Ege & Wilfried Voynich only the final links in a distribution chain?

Why is your Voynich hypothesis incorrect? Simply put, it's because it failed to lead you to Salerno, on site of Europe’s first medical school & botanical garden. Therefore our focus tonight shifts to the countless linguistic theories found on the "Voynich Ninja" & why they were destined to fail. 🌀

Who thought that the Voynich is well-versed in the German proverb: Stille Wasser sind tief. A 360-degree view reveals the truth: Off coast, the Tyrrhenian Sea drops to depths equal to the Alp heights. At the bottom lies an abyssal plain, riddled with underwater volcanoes, like some Swiss cheese. 🌋🌀

How much of the "tip of the iceberg" has ever been visible to an observer along a hot Mediterranean coastline, like ours here? What about a shift in perspective? A better question: How much Voynich remains hidden, as calm as Dante itself, beneath the slick, too glossy surface of our waters?

Lisa, the 5♀ Voynich doctors solved your *Otto Ege Roadtrip Dilemma too. All the puzzles from countless collections, which Otto so briefly crafted by hand, with a pair of scissors. Each folio deliberate cut calculated to extract the max. capital of it. Every one of Otto’s cuts brought us closer. ⚕️🌈🌀

Lisa, what you observed with scripts of Costantino L'Africano can be seen in the works of Niccolo' Salernitano too. They share the Scuola Medica marginalia, like the pieces that made Otto Ege a rich man. ⚕️Niccolo' documented the spongia somnifera, one thing the 5♀ Voynich doctors handed down too.

And why is it that the Voynich can't have originated in the Alpine region, as Koen Gheuens claims in his non-peer-reviewed study? If you’re only thinking about his blind spot of swallowtail merlons, you’re overlooking a fundamental flaw: Last known script provenance ≠ author or place of origin! ⚕️🌈🌀

In the Middle Ages, there were no spa towns in the Alps fed by spring water. No spots, that remained ice-free even in the glacial period. No ecosystem, that preserved a Mediterranean flora & fauna, shaped by volcanic activity. These are the hills, drawn by Pietro da Eboli & the ⚕️ Voynich ladies. 🌀🌋

Why are all the fake & hoax theories about the Voynich wrong? Quite simply, no one would use original early 15th-cc parchment, along with the specific chemistry of the Vesuvio, to paint Europe’s first botanical garden into a rosette on folio 85v with precise, pixel-perfect topographical elevations.⚕️

✝️ Don’t worry, dear Voynich-hoax theorists, you'll always have a sacred sanctuary. The head of Digital Humanities at the University of Cologne has a soft spot 4 hoax theorists. That’s always been the case, from now on that's your safe space. 🖤 🥀We, on the other hand, lost our patience 4 charlatans.

🚨 Who moderated the linguistic solutions on Voynich Ninja, the educational platform recommended by Yale? Koen Gheuens, admin & linguist. So, why didn't he notice that every single hypothesis needs a mapping table of: Voynich Glyph + EVA Alphabet (bas. + ext. + x) + target language character set?

voynich.ninjaSolutions

Since linguistic theories regarding the MS Beinecke 408 generally lack tables mapping the Voynich glyphs to the "EVA" (Extensible Voynich Alphabet basic + extended + x) as substitution system + the target language alphabet, none of these theories can be verified. Kisses, yours Mulieres Salernitanae.

Who assumed that an edu. forum endorsed by Yale, specialized in linguistic attacks to decipher the Voynich couldn't have realized that any linguistic theory based on the EVA alphabet must include a translation table mapping every Voynich glyph, EVA (bas. + ext. + x) + the target language letter set?

Nobody at Yale & none of all Voynich Ninjas or even one single human at a worldwide security agency ever asked, what might happen once the Voynich Collection found its home, or? Hey Lisa, @lisafdavis.bsky.social ... tell me, what were exactly your emergency plans once the MS Beinecke 408 is solved?

Monica H. Green updated her long-standing research on the historical figure Trotula of Salerno. Her findings suggest that experts in medieval medicine view "Trotula" merely as the name for a compendium, a work that was authored by male scholars & erroneously attributed to a fictional female figure.

In conclusion, regarding Dr. Green’s theses on Trotula: 1. We hope that her future scholarly research might one day lead her to the very place she has been writing about for the past 30 years. 2. We recommend a visit of the Duomo di San Matteo & a very special chapel "Cappella De Ruggiero", first.

@monicamedhist.bsky.social Dear Monica, can this Scuola Medica Salernitana collective convince you of a Salernitan medicine long before the 12th century, contrary your claims? Can you find reasons why the works of Costantino & a real Trotula exist in different languages & from different centuries?

Why are there so many script-versions of Trotula or Costantino so puzzling for Dr. Green? Let us conduct a thought experiment. Imagine: Back then, it was common practice for scholars to first study & transcribe the scripts of their predecessors, to later develop own ideas as teachers & physicians.

The sheer volume of the private archives & libraries was likely beyond what you imagined. After adding all scripts necessary to run a university for 600 years, you'll grasp the knowledge produced in Salerno. Does the mental knot untangle, once you admit the presence of multiple cultures & languages?

Who, like Trotula de Ruggiero, was among the first female physicians in Salerno? None other than Sichelgaita, princess & the wife of the "Norman terror of the world". She was a student of Alfano I & ensured that the Scuola Medica Salernitana began its golden age at the end of the 11th cc.

Beyond surgery, the Scuola Medica Salernitana also researched & treated highly contagious diseases. Salernitan scholars already distinguished between various modes of transmission for infectious diseases, for instance sexually transmitted infections. They also contained & treated the plague.

Furthermore, buboes were surgically removed, often in combination with sophisticated anesthetics, that Salerno had as early as the 11th cc. The medical knowledge warned against the consumption of wild birds too. Birds, that were weakened by the winter season transmitted highly contagious deseases.

You surely now have a sense of the legacy left by a single individual (Dr.), who was both a med. practitioner & a scholar with own library. Now, multiply the total output of one such hypthetically human (like yourself) by the number of scholars who contributed to a 600-year-old academic tradition.

Now imagine what other medical specialties were taught at the Scuola Medica Salernitana. Beyond gynecology & pediatrics, as classic subjects often highlighted in history teachings, surgery was also part of the curriculum. What do you know about the surgery from the 9th to 15th cc in Salerno?

Consider too: The entire body of work, the books & writings, that you yourself have produced as an expert, researcher or scientist in more than 30 years of exploration & publication. Imagine the volume of your own output handed down & collected, cited. Published. That belongs to your library too.

Now, imagine your most precious achievements: The original, valuable artifacts you've preserved for future generations. Discoveries & inventions you made first. Provided solutions. Your legacy. Don't forget the legacy left by your ancestors, if you're not the first with that profession in your line.

Now everyone incl. Dr. Green, consider the sheer volume of one's private library as global expert in medieval medicine. Think of all the writings you own, the works from which you once learned, everything you acquired since becoming a teacher. Imagine a library representing your years of expertise.

Her findings suggest that experts in medieval medicine view "Trotula" merely as the name for a compendium, a work that was authored by male scholars & erroneously attributed to a fictional female figure.

Dr. Green wrote about the opulentissima Salerno, about the Norman conquerer Roberto & his Lombard princess Sichelgaita. But Dr. Green missed an important relationship: Trotula de Ruggiero wasn't the only female medico in the 11th cc at the Scuola Medica Salernitana. Sichelgaita was a medico, too.

Who else was a physician in Salerno in the 11th century, working alongside Trotula de Ruggiero & Sichelgaita? All these figures were active at the School of Salerno, an institution that, according to Dr. Monica H. Green, did not even exist in the 12th century.

One can immediately sense the extent to which Trotula was a historical or a fictional figure by examining the circle of prominent figures who were active at the Scuola Medica Salernitana in the 11th century. All 4 were mentioned in Greens introduction for THE TROTULA, 2002. What did Dr. Green miss?

This is Trotula de Ruggiero herself as artwork in line with Alfano I and Gregorio VII. She is also guarded by Roberto il Guiscardo & Sichelgaita at the entrance to the Castello di Arechi in Salerno. All of them were active together, at the same time.

Green claims further, that one Trotula-script might be a just copy of a work of Costantino L'Africano. All that while the Scuola Medica Salernitana existed from the 9th - 15th century. Trotula de Ruggiero lived in the 11th cc & worked alongside Costantino l’Africano as a trained, licensed medico.

How tenable is Green’s claim that the person Trotula did not exist, that she was neither an author nor a medical practitioner & that her bio- & bibliography are merely the product of a medieval cult on a fictional woman? Please check now what Dr. Green published about the Mulieres Salernitanae too.

Green also asserts that no woman could have held an university chair, given that the University of Salerno did not yet exist. "The simplest way to remember... is..., in the early 12th century, there were no “professors” of any gender since the University of Salerno did not yet exist!" M. H. Green

For more than 30 years, Dr. Green published as scholar literature on medieval medicine, especially about the salernitan medicine. This makes me wonder if Dr. Green was in Salerno in person 4 field research to examine the medieval history. Green must have gathered some extaordinary original sources.

Let's try to summarize the conclusions of Dr. Monica H. Green after more than 30 years of studies on Trotula of Salerno. <<There was no historical woman named “Trotula.” >> Green regards "Trotula" as a term for a body of medical texts, rather than the name of a historically documented woman.

Green concluded that the well-known biography of Trotula should be regarded as a late, legendary construct. In particular, claims regarding Trotula's professorship & family connections, as well as the assumption that a single author was responsible for the entire text body, lack sufficient evidence.

SMHH (shaking my historian's head). My very 1st publication asserting that "Trotula" was a textual fiction but that *Trota* was a real historical figure came out in 1995. And yet still in 2026, we have scholarship like this that cannot tell the difference. This is being taught in Italian schools.

Nah, we do notice you’re having a bit of a hard time now that you’ve run out of Voynich to puzzle over. ⚕️🌈🌀 But guess what, there’s still a mystery left: Whether Pope Johannes de Sancto Paulo was a man or a woman. 4 this we host a Friday evening stream to explore another 1 of humanity’s mysteries.

How big is the humanitarian heart at the institute in Cologne? How much room does it leave 4 the neglected possibility that the Voynich collection might be a hoax? Can the Institute 4 Digital Humanities serve as a safe space 4 Voynich-hoax theories, themselves an endangered species? We believe so.

Next challenge. Meet the expectations of the Voynich Master Koen Gheuens. Map naked breasts to scholars. Be aware of the artist who, due to inexperience, created nothing better than sloppy titties. Even the anatomically seasoned Koen G. wasn't able to attribute the nipples to 1 of these medicos. 🌈

One organiser of the Voynich Conference 2026 is a special person: Dr. Colin Layfield, Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta. Colin is also the co-author of the LSA analysis, which was published together with Dr. Lisa Fagin Davis. As Lisa podcasted, Colin provided the not cited data corpus.

⚡Let's talk about academic standards 4 equal treatment: Are papers by top Voynich researchers permitted to pass the internal peer review within the circle of experts without citing sources? Of course not. Lisa recently rejected a paper (Dunsel=author) 4 review due to incorrect citation of sources.
