Creeped out by this? Good, you should be. It's exactly why we need strong and effective data protection policies across the board. Protection and privacy should be strengthened and made easier by default, not deregulated. Don't stop fighting for it, because the other side won't stop attacking it.

This is where we are after two years of Europeans groveling to Trump. Europe has to change tack and start putting serious pressure on the US and on Putin. The US cannot both be a dominant NATO member and side with Putin. Europe has leverage, it should use it.

Europe needs to stop playing nice with the US out of silly nostalgic view of translatlanticism and/or fear. And the only way that happens is if we gather strength through renewed unity. Our trajectory must change.
