Tencreek Cross, St Martin's churchyard at Liskeard, Cornwall. Moved here in 1903 from its previous life as a gatepost at Tencreek Farm on east edge of the town #standingstonesunday

#mobility #bicycling Park and charge for electric bicycle - quite a nice bike rack just outside Copenhagen, where on can park one's bike and charge it

Happy birthday Tom Wright (according to the newspaper). Still recall tagging along on the small team with you that started this off on the Chicago Beach in Jumeirah, though sadly my marina has since been built over by another monster hotel!

Its hard not to like these 16C brass miniatures in an altar step in church in Kent - these ones are about only 4 to 6" across (should have put something to scale them by)

As railways seem to be a popular subject, here's a 1910 map of the London Underground. Part of a pocket-sized pamphlet 'London: what to see & how to see it. The Excursionists' Guide with Map' 🗺️ If there are any requests for historic maps of particular areas in and around London, let us know!

Interesting to compare Saltaire 1850s-70s with similar era Workers Building Association housing in Copenhagen. Simple densely set rows with feature corner builidngs. The Danes prob squeezed in more gardens

Still waiting to hear from Lime after querying why they gave me a 'Warning for not parking correctly' after they turned off my bike when I paused at side of road to look at my map (in Netherlands). The app said "because my ride had been unusually long". Is there a time limit. Has anyone had this?

10,000 fewer on-street car parking spaces. That's the pledge from Amsterdam's new coalition government over the next four years. While many cities still argue whether change is possible, Amsterdam is reclaiming its public realm one tree, bench, bike rack, terrace, playground, and garden at a time.

Driving in Denmark last week discussing w wife city we were in and car computer suddenly says 'you're discussing the Danish govt policy on city centres and young families, do you want me to search for research articles on this subject?' We both looked at each other astonished and said 'No!'. Eery

Utrecht has the pretty unique feature of wharf level quays along the old canal. This split level waterside means not only tourist benefits from boats and cafés but also bin collections. And it looks pretty neat too- I recommend a boat trip if you go here

The Dafne Schippers Bridge in Utrecht is another of those great additions to walk, wheel and cycle infrastructure that must produce a massive ROI in non vehicle journeys

This former cornershop in Utrecht has been a Neighbourhood parking garage for bicycles for a few years I believe. Such a great use of space in streets of terraced houses that may find it hard to fit a bike in

Funny seeing lizarding (as Gehl calls it) seat staging in a high street being used, not by youth, but by older clientele. When i've suggested similar in UK towns i have always been told this is not what 'our vistors/residents need'

There is something nostalgically appealing about the use of rooftop graphic typography. May its because advertising restrictions in UK has largely stopped it

Had to take a quick look at Byens Bro, the new cycle pedestrian bridge over railway in Ødense. One of series of investments that must be paying dividends in this city of 187k people (along with tram) as traffic levels were low enough to hear the seagulls cries echoing

Ooo Ødense has so much going on as well as HC Andersen... trams on grass (replacing busy vehicle trafficked street), cycle tracks, historic streets and new museum

Sure you've got your Count Binface, but when it comes to eccentric British candidates, retired Royal Navy officer Bill Boaks was a force to contend with. By all accounts Boaks was a terrible campaigner, but his single-minded dedication to the cause of road safety was a force to be reckoned with. 🧵

Sunset on the Osterbekkanal in Hamburg. Gentrifying area but still with lots of life, bars and people lizarding among the industrial heritage

Like a wheel? T.R.U.D.E (Tief runter unter die Elbe) cutting wheel of the world’s largest tunnel boring machine, which was in use from 1997 to 2000 during the construction of the fourth tube of Hamburg’s Elbtunnel-Bohrkopf Tunnel

Shady coffee in colonnade at Het Loo Palace, Apeldoorn. Gardens even more fabulous/ matured than when came 20 yrs ago. New underground entrance vestibule is slick but rather lacking the Dutch understatement - perhaps this follows on from 17C royals' need to impress

Saw this bike in a 17C National Trust house (Chastleton in Cotswolds) cellar today and thought how good it would have been to get to nearest pub
