I did not take any photos of my last day at the Nuclear Media Summit by @outrider.org 🫠 but this event was fascinating and expertly run! Loved talking about how to share complicated science while making doofy jokes. And I played some tape about balls while others talked smartly about nuclear war 💁‍♀️

PFAS – forever chemicals – have been found virtually everywhere. A new monitoring system is in the works. Sarah Benish shares how PFAS deposition is important to monitor. It's the process where per- & polyfluoroalkyl substances move from the atmosphere & fall onto surface waters, soil, and plants.

NADP began their monitoring of PFAS deposition in April of this year. The data will be used to help inform regulatory decisions, public health assessments, and more at the national scale. Learn more about the work here: nadp.slh.wisc.edu/pfas-sub-net...

nadp.slh.wisc.edunadp.slh.wisc.eduPFAS measurements can be added to existing NTN site operations, or a new NTN site can be established. We currently do not plan to offer PFAS measurements outside of the NADP/NTN network.

While it seems minor, giving something a name helps audiences bridge the gap. It can make a big difference in whether readers feel the impact of science and climate reporting, or not.
