i only ever see “community” invoked to justify taking or not taking an action that results in a loss of money, misallocation (read: loss) of money, or in an attempt to cow someone else into losing money. it’s not real. then again money isn’t real either. none of this is real. what can you do eh

i prefer lawful gaming to the cost of unlawful gaming (crime and injury and money disappearing into curaçao, anjouan, and british financial privacy islands) which is not to say i am fine with the present arrangement, where so far as i can tell it is treated like a retail financial product

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

my possibly very faulty understanding, having spent ten minutes reading about this, is that the mayor recognizes the need to densify this outlying area (yes, correct) and will do so – despite a property tax freeze and rebates/bribes – with a tax on vacant property which, no you won't

to be clear i do understand a belief in nothing beyond assuming power. but does this person happen to sincerely believe in any of those three propositions that appeal to three different groups of people. again, fine if it's lies to be clear

*that's* the urbanist option? you kidding? the property tax freeze guy? peel region. is it the aquifer or something. what's in it.

gotta ask if the reason churchill is what it is – why it ships a token amount of grain and always has – is b/c of poor infrastructure (admittedly, it is poor). how do we plan to avoid another this, with tens of billions rather than hundreds of millions of dollars heritage.enggeomb.ca/index.php/Po...

Dubai’s DP World is set to unveil a deal backing potential development of Canada’s port of Churchill, a northern outpost that Prime Minister Mark Carney aims to expand for exports to Europe and other markets.

people who think like me about ports that've never turned a profit and been reliant on subvention for their entire existence are not in charge right now, suffer not. this despite the fact that a central banker cum chair of são paulo tramway, light, and power is in charge. – yes! i find this odd, too

oh i forgot about the fake united nations. you’re all still doing that? how is the fake united nations going.

35 now, 60 from the ATM. dilution should be good for a pop if this ad company sold off last week on the “how will you pay for it?” question. they’ve an answer. that’s how this works now, right?

setting to the side that the task seems unnecessary and the answer seems bad. how can one action those bullet points. what purpose do they serve.

huh. dollarama sells a dubaï chocolate bar (five dollars canadian funds). that may be the only place i have seen one and thought it appropriate

bland, oversweet, tablet annoying to consume (i used cutlery), poorly made with considerable bloom. so pretty much like every other one of these i have had.

i've nothing against homegoods and i've nothing against mall restaurants. i have been long tjx before and i have been long the prem watsa konzern before.

yknow some day i really should learn how to pronounce all the BC place names but i think it’s endearing that i do it incorrectly

that is quite an impressive result for whoever is leading at the moment whatever the bc liberals are called at the moment

the thing i learned tonight is that “Surrey will be the largest city in British Columbia” that is probably true it is confusing to me that one finds that acceptable (« Surrey, isn’t that the airport? No wait Andrew, that’s Richmond. What the hell’s in Surrey? Have I ever been there? »)

i've got a polar bear in cold storage in a bonded warehouse at the border for you sir

Obama: "That well-known evil empire Canada. That historical adversary of ours. Canada! *laughs* It's your neighbor. It's a few minutes' drive over the bridge! These are the people who gave us Martin Short and maple syrup. They are the nicest people! And someone we've gotten them so mad."

the united states will be fine. they're buying upper ruthenian fertilizer, rendering people to equatorial guinea, and relations are cordial with one of the koreas. i've got a good feeling about this.

blueberries. isn’t she on paper from the north? we’re cranberries right now

omg hahahahahahaha *SEN. COLLINS ISSUES STATEMENT ON US TARIFFS ON CANADA *COLLINS:BLUEBERRY, POTATO PRODUCERS TO GET CANADA TARIFF RELIEF *COLLINS: APPLE, SEAWEED PRODUCERS TO GET CANADA TARIFF RELIEF *COLLINS: 9 PRODUCT TYPES TO GET EXEMPTION FROM CANADA TARIFFS

ten bands in a bundle, four bundles in a brick, four bricks collated and shrinkwrapped into one (1) standard federal reserve currency unit which is 1.6MM

I don’t particularly see a need to respond to that. I would hope that this country advocates for policy outcomes through available lawful and transparent means when Democratic executives and lawmakers act contrary to its interest as well.

The US embassy has published a list detailing what it calls Canadian government officials' "plans to influence American politics"

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

gotta be honest sir. i've never done that. have you considered developing the ability to estimate the cost of the clothing being worn by someone doing that to you.

There was no risk discount embedded in the Canadian dollar ahead of yesterday's Alberta separation referendum, leaving nothing to unwind. Firming odds on a rate hike at next week's BoC meeting - now near 90% - are doing the work in lifting the loonie:
