For people who were Club Penguin people, what was the appeal? Why were kids so obsessed with it? (It was slightly before my time)

"I just found out I’m one of those parents. You know the sort. The kind of pearl-clutching, moral-crusading, “Call of Duty isn’t coming into my house,” no-violent-video-games killjoy I once would’ve rolled my eyes at." www.crossplay.news/p/star-fox-s...

Horror dilemma for tonight: Hokum vs Colony vs Leviticus. Which one??

This story of a father helping design a train video game for his son who loves trains is really adorable https://www.crossplay.news/p/building-a-train-video-game-for-kids?utm_campaign=email-half-post&r=2l7d7&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Still absolutely buzzing after last night's Bears game

Ripping through tons of Steam Next Fest demos in 10 minute chunks is one of my favorite streams we do at Remap. Really excited to do it with both @cado.bsky.social and @gameonysus.bsky.social right now! Twitch: www.twitch.tv/remapradio // YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pdu...

We're recording a subscriber-only podcast tomorrow about Janet and Chia's recent trips to Japan! If you have any questions + observations you want to share for our conversation, send 'em to questions@remapradio.com

I know it's only been a day and there's lots of slop, but any Stream Next Fest recommendations?

Umurangi Generation captured the collective angst of successive generations inheriting a broken world prepared for them like a shit sandwich. Here's my story for Remap about the developer's follow-up, Penguin Colony https://remapradio.com/articles/penguin-colony-wants-the-world-to-open-its-eyes/

Excited to talk about bad HVAC news while feeing raccoons in Creature Kitchen for this week's ~~lo fi Patrick~~ stream Twitch: www.twitch.tv/remapradio // YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfh3...

105 of 105. I’m running out of Normal Golf Game 😭

"We're all gonna die, and at a certain point, you have to pick your paths, and cold showers are not one of them." - @patrickklepek.bsky.social #RemapRadio

It's a packed news week (Epic Games vibe coding! Double Fine unionizing! WTF @ Total War!) and games week (Ocarina of Time! Penguin Colony! Slay the Spire?) on Remap Radio https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/remap-radio/id1690437343?i=1000796646545

I really like the big swings being taken with the new Carrie TV show. On @decodingtv.bsky.social, we talked about how (I think, at least) adaptations should have a *take* and not be so precious with the social material podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

I was faced with a video game dilemma about a month ago. I don’t have kids of my own, but I assume a father-figure-like role toward my best friend’s kids. Inside my bumpy journey trying to help my friend’s kid get into video games https://www.crossplay.news/p/teaching-kids-to-play-video-games

Uchikoshi's comments on AI here are interesting.

Could Nintendo's Ocarina of Time remake prove more approachable for kids than the complexities of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom?

Anyone in Chicago wanna go to tonight's Chrono Trigger orchestrated performance? I can't make it work, happy to sell/transfer the tickets at face value. DM me if interested.

I've played an hour of Nintendo's Ocarina of Time remake, and found a game that feels like a safe update of an all-time classic, and one that might be more approachable for younger audiences than Breath of the Wild https://www.crossplay.news/p/so-far-nintendos-zelda-remake-feels

Chatterbox chase sequences in the Hellraiser game 😭

Oldest daughter got spacers in her mouth today in advance of braces. This step is supposed to suck. (I don’t remember this part as a kid.) Any tips to make her journey better?

Back from my week off tomorrow and desperately desperately in need of work. I’m not getting payments for thing I did, my car is broken down, and I’ve got a big gap in schedule work coming up. In a much tougher position after a vacation than I planned on. If you have any leads on work, let me know

My friend last night:

Can you hear it in the wind? That’s the sound of a new Dragon’s Dogma game, which heralds the arrival of Austin Walker on Remap Radio https://remapradio.com/podcasts/episodes/remap-radio-157-theyre-masterworks-all-2/

We had the chance to talk a bit about Forever Ago and its development with @patrickklepek.bsky.social & @remapradio.bsky.social! It was a fun conversation that you can read about or listen to here 👇👇👇

I gave Braid an A+ back in my press days. I spent 100s of hours working on The Witness at PlayStation, fighting for it, getting it into conferences, and being Jon's personal wrangler. I even coined "Metroidbrainia" after it. I will not be buying Order of the Sinking Star, and neither should you.

Forever Ago is a sappy game, but I am a sucker for sappy stories, especially ones that center the anger and jealousy that people experiencing grief are often embarrassed to share or talk about. My chat with the game's developers for Remap: remapradio.com/articles/for...

Was the LANTERNS finale a sublime and subtle ending for a great season of TV? Or was it a disaster? Watch/listen to @patrickklepek.bsky.social and I debate it on Decoding TV: youtu.be/XqP1i3MGcM4

Golf! Golf! Golf!

I adore my six-year-old with all my heart. But her love for Kidz Bop is tearing us apart https://www.crossplay.news/p/kidz-bop-sucks

Got a real and genuine rant lined up for @crossplayblog.bsky.social tomorrow

Control Resonant may have completely turned a corner for me—mechanically, narratively—at the Underpass.

This podcast is a real journey—and was really fun to record

The New York Times recently published a list of the 100 best TV shows of the 21st Century. For Decoding TV, @patrickklepek.bsky.social I break down what we thought of their choices, some stuff they missed, and just some of the weird-ass stuff that made it www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_7Y...

You do not have to know much of anything about Dark Matter beyond its basic premise to enjoy this sublime episode of TV.

Really been enjoying these 20 minute-ish dispatches that we've been doing to document our weekly emotional sports rollercoaster.
