Recently my son asked to have some of his mom's candy. I said there wasn't any but he knew where some was. He left and came back. A few minutes passed. I looked over at the couch to see him confidently chewing through an entire box of Altoids.

I really wanted us to send one more person so I could joke that Essen is actually S.N. (Six Nerds), but Patrick said I can’t requisition “over a thousand dollars” to “take someone away from their job for two weeks” just for a post that would get “10 likes max.”

Social deduction games are so easy. Every time I play one I simply nominate the Werewolf for elimination and we instantly win the game in the first round.

Alright I'll start today with a hot take. Why did you put your sunflowers behind your pea shooters in Plants Vs Zombies? I figure sunflowers in front. They are cheap to replace and if a zombie breaks the line the lone sun flower can't stop the zombie anyway. So shooters, sunflowers, wall nuts.

Thinking. It will literally kill you.

This isn't right yet but I'm getting closer. There are so many other factors limiting an attack. Rage was getting more and more vestigial so this cut doesn't have. If I reintroduce it, it will purely be a bonus to combat like the Paladin's Fury.

For the evening crowd. I was surprised this did some numbers.

When I retire I want to find another designer/developer to podcast with. Each week we will discuss a game and how we would have done it differently. Then the game's developer will come on and tell us they tried that and how completely wrong we are.

It's been one of those weeks. A repeat from 10 years ago where I try to make playing a chaotic horde an experience full of rich decisions but also incapable of being optimized.

Video game pitch. You're a tourist in Jewel Cave. There is a seismic event that destroys the elevator and leaves you at best 16 hours from the surface. You have to hike out relying on finding sets of supplies that were left for such an emergency.

In my 20s I wrote novel length things. Some were about being young in the 90s, some were cyberpunk things. Now that I'm middle aged I found a reason to write again. I really have this urge around writing something poignant about being caught up in the middle.

The pressure of raising children, dealing with my parents decline, running a company, and mostly resolved trauma in my life. I feel like I have connected with something to write about. Now if I just had time to write, but I'm the sandwich right now.

We're taking Kart on the road! If you'll be at SPIELE ESSEN, stop by 3-D200 before noon each day and try your luck on the hill!

I had to swear off holiday themed games but the holiday set for Two Point Museum has me thinking. Some sort of fall carnival drafting game with a little economic engine. Maybe recast Trick or Treat as you are building a carnival or moving through the carnival. Okay I better stop.

All I want to do is be the game director for my little Vast second edition project and to keep the studio running. Frowny face at having yet more AI bull shoved in my face.

DISASTER! Due to our printer accidentally dropping a hyphen, everyone at Leder Games is frantically trying to design a "56 player" expansion for Kart.

We wrapped up the Kart campaign today. It's a completely new property, with a new design team. I'm pretty happy with the results. We're going to rest for a bit and then get it ready for production.

We're nearly at the finish! Just two hours left to back the Kart campaign! bit.ly/KartOnKS

What are you all waiting for? Go watch the music video one more time and then pledge before the Kickstarter is over!

He sleeps a lot these days. Even when you're with him talking he has trouble staying awake. I'm grateful to my employees for providing me with the freedom to come down here despite having a Kickstarter running.

My dear sweet doughy (father) is reaching the end of his life. Barry (my brother) helped transfer him to hospice care in Owatonna this week and now we're waiting for the end.

We're big fans of local Saint Paul band Alligator Orchestra. After hearing songs they wrote about Root, we commissioned them to record a Kart theme song. They came back with "Don't Look Down!", two minutes of raucous pop-punk that's perfect for Kart's reckless downhill races.
