Last year I had to take my baby to the ER for dehydration at 10 weeks old because someone at my partner’s job came to work sick with “just a cold.” It passed to my baby. Baby was crying nonstop for days because they were hungry, but they kept spitting everything up in these enormous mucous globs.

After 5 years of study, WA's independent environmental watchdog found Woodside's Browse gas project was an unacceptable environmental risk on multiple grounds. Read the confidential 2023 documents obtained by Boiling Cold in my story in The Guardian.

Fighting patriarchy contributes to fighting fascism. And vice versa.

This is becoming a common pattern worldwide and if you're wondering it's because facism and patriarchy are twins.

This shouldn't even be a question. Automated trains have already improved transit service in Vancouver, Copenhagen, Paris, Singapore, etc. (Note: There is a world of difference btw driverless trains in a controlled environment and driverless cars on public streets)

Having worked for and with NGOs and foundations for most my career, I can't even begin to grapple with what NGO advocacy would look like if most philanthropic support was coming from Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Dario Amodei and their ilk.

Instead, we got the silly lie that there were 56 recommendations from the Robodebt Royal Commission instead of 57, the social security system left as is, the old debts validated in legislation, and bipartisan consensus on "the best form of welfare is a job". But we ask: why are people so angry?

Paula 🌹 reposted

As someone who covered Robodebt in part, it's clear nothing has really changed. Worse: the politics of federal Labor on social security are baffling. We keep hearing about how people have "lost trust in institutions". Wiping these debts seem a simple answer to help. Instead, they rewrote the rules.
