It always struck me as odd that Thailand with its phenomenal potential for solar energy seemed to produce so little of it. Then I discovered that power generation is largely in the hands of the military over there.

Imagine a world where we are no longer dependent on oil and nuclear energy. It's coming and it's better and that's why the vested interests are doing everything in their power to stop it

Of course it's opposed by the establishment - the areas of the world who have access to most solar energy are currently mostly some of the poorest countries in the world - the Sahara desert could probably meet most of the world's needs for energy on its own!

The concept of the the limited liability company (answerable only to its shareholders), along with the divorce of individual physical effort from earnings were two of the absolute worst ideas in the entire history of mankind!

What the rabidly right-wing Torygraph doesn't want you to know about the plight of NHS consultants. They are underpaid compared to their continental cousins and their pension isn't special - in Luxembourg they would get a state pension equal to final salary! Yes they are grossly underpaid!

Thank you Brazil for keeping hold of your sanity! Just think, trump's support of the right wing candidate may well have handed victory to Lula!

If he tries that in Britain, a maritime nation, they find him hanging by has scrotum from a fuckin lamppost! Sooner the better.

Nigel Farage’s attack on the RNLI and co is a new low even for this bottom-feeder. He wants to prosecute anyone who saves lives of people that he doesn't like. Desperate Farage diverts attention from investigations by pledging laws that can't work. archive.ph/5UYnG/

Apart of course the ones the fuckin civil service or other official bodies won't fuckin give you - those ones

Neil Mackay@neilmackay.bsky.social

The technology they are selling you - trapping you into spending a fortune on, so they can harvest you for data like a fucking farm animal - is pointless

There have been cases where a laughable number of people were claiming benefits and housing benefit from one single address. That's a check that should be made every time a claim is lodged - what other claims have been filed at the same address?

Paul Brownjohn@paulbj.bsky.social

The problem will all this is that the British Civil Service are totally clueless and don't seem to have the first idea how to do joined up government. Every claim for benefits should be cross referenced every which way if the data were available, but the UK doesn't keep the data accessibly,

This graph would be more educational if events such as the introduction of the breath test, the law making seat belts compulsory, the widespread introduction of ABS and other major safety measures were to be annotated on the graph

Otto English@ottoenglish.bsky.social

Incredible graph this. UK road fatalities between 1926 to 2024. That wartime peak is I think a combination of the blackout... which killed almost as many people as the bombing in the first year... and who knows.. perhaps US and other servicemen who were unused to driving on the left...

I am not a christian - my view is that any sort of fundamentalist religious belief is mental illness - however, trump has claimed to be christian and if it is to christianity he aspires, then he is a MASSIVE failure at it - but then he is a massive failure at everything he does so...

The saddest part of this is there is a segment of our population that is just so ignorant of anything beyond our borders (by design really) that they are acceptable with this. It never dawns on them to replace that rockets destination with their child, or their husband.

The latest hot news that we will definitely not be holding a press conference about is that yesterday there were by-elections in three district councils, one city council and one county council and Reform lost in all of them. Our unstoppable march to power continues.

The saddest part (speaking as a man) is that almost all of the really bad things were invented by men - not by women, BY MEN!

"Shoot the messenger" has always been the reaction of such scum to exposure of any sort

Parody Nigel Farage@parodypm.bsky.social

Following ITV's undercover investigation, Reform are taking decisive action. We're going to sue the arse off ITV for breaking the law and traumatising our staff. Full details in the new Nigel's Notebook: parodypm.substack.com/p/the-key-le...

The us christian right is simultaneously pathetic and fucking repulsive. Christianity is a scam just like most other religions. There are around 3000 religions in the world and all of them scams except the one you happen to believe in - FUCK OFF!

This is such a stupid thing to say. Because if it were true, we wouldn't need a Constitution and Bill of Rights written by humans. And every country would have had the same Constitution and Bill of Rights from the beginning of time.

It's surprising how many attractive women open a chat with me just to say 'Hi'. Call me suspicious but having been approached by any number of similar folk, experience tends to make me assume that they are all on the make. My favourite was one who contacted me through Instagram messaging.

I just block such people straight away but this particular one intrigued me enough for me to play along for a while. Within 2 days she was saying I was the love of her life; within 4, her soulmate. I wondered at what stage she would ask for money. I guessed 2 months - I was very wong, it was 8 days!

On my own; I used to develop DB systems for a living, I could probably throw together a system to answer this trivially simple requirement in a matter of a few days or weeks!

I always thought that grasshoppers were herbivores. Point 1 This is a cricket not a grasshopper Point 2 crickets are in fact predators on other insects

Just a reminder that the summer heat was not that long ago.

For no particular reason - I'm going through some of the 1000s of pics I took during the summer. This is a female Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo).
