Beginning to empty out my storage room: This giant photographic blow-up of art from "Swamp Angel" is yours for the postage (I don't know how much that would be). It is 57" wide by 37" high. Anyone interested?

For the year I turned three, my family lived in Japan. I have a large box of my parents' (antique!) color slides and we just found (with help) an archive in Tokyo that would like them. 3rd slide is Kodachrome, colors stayed rich. Other brands faded badly, need much Photoshopping to fix colors.

As Fathers Day draws to a close, here is a bust of my father, made by my mother sometime before they were married. I have complicated feelings about my father but I have always admired this head and I am happy it’s in my studio; a number of plaster casts like this are floating around my family.

Has anyone seen the play “Giant” on Broadway, with John Lithgow playing Roald Dahl? Dahl was a horrible person (I don’t know first-hand but I do know second-hand). I’m curious what scandal the play treats.

Photographer Kirill Simakov took a photo of unphotogenic me for his portrait exhibit! I hang between Nicholas Lowry of Antiques Road Show (talking here to Kirill with Elie Wiesel behind him) & photographer Bruce Weber. Visit me there! Leonovich Gallery, W 24th St. in NYC, only until March 27

I’m one of the pieces on the wall in a gallery in Chelsea! (New York’s fashionable neighborhood for art galleries). The show is pretty cool, Russian photographer Kirill Simakov in his first solo NY show. Come see it! (Leonovich Galkery , W24th Street)

I’m not seeing that I can write captions for individual photos: the weird window picture shows our kitchen window (as seen from a bedroom window), where a section of anti-pigeon spikes was partially blown off the windowsill in the storm. Our Super had glued it in place—not so very super.

So many people have shared my posts about a bookstore visit tomorrow in Takoma Park—thank you! But I have gotten sick and they are canceling! I hope nobody shows up anyway. Apologies.

Please, please, share this event announcement if you know anyone near Takoma Park, MD or even if you don't: bookstore storytime at the terrific new People's Books this Sunday 1/4/26! I'll draw and read and I need kids or even grownups there to make it fun! peoplesbooktakoma.com/event/zelins...

peoplesbooktakoma.comStorytime: Paul Zelinsky for Still LifeEvery young artist has drawn or painted a still life scene. Perhaps it is a bowl of fruit, or a toy, or a vase of flowers, or a chair. The only rule is that a still life painting must stay still. B…

Packing for San Francisco, where we’ll meet my daughter and her family. We’re bringing along a precious copy of “Dear Mr. Henshaw” for them to take back to Melbourne. Her son said Beverly had stopped signing books for people and this would be her last: she signed it for our as-yet-unborn grandson

I recently got wallpaper from Spoonflower.com for my apartment: my own endpaper design from “The Enchanted Castle”— see it on my website. There is a lot left, 1/2 roll wide x 12’ long or so. It’s not good as wallpaper—images are very cut-off—but you can cut it up and all of it has adhesive backing.

As co-chair of PEN America's Children's and Young Adult Books Committee, I am not charged with taking notes during the zoom meetings, but I do jot down some things, like the first half of this ( I spent much of the next day adding the rest)

Ten days ago I posted pictures of magnolia buds on a tree I pass every day. Here are three more photos I've taken since then, the last one this morning with a beautiful other flowering tree hogging the foreground. Happy full-blown spring!

My storytime at An Unlikely Story in Plainville, MA, was lots of fun and I thank everyone who came. I don’t have a picture of it but upstairs from it, owner Jeff Kinney was working on a Wimpy Kid book and we got to visit him. My grandkids here are playing outside his spectacular studio.

In the three days following my visit to An Unlikely Story they took me to visit eight schools to speak about Still Life. I wish I could show photos of the kids but here is me; I love hamming it up with second graders. This is Roosevelt Avenue Elementary in North Attleboro, MA

Holiday art show in Port Washington, NY, at their beautiful library, courtesy of Jane Breskin Zalben! Please come if you can! Reception is coming right up 12/7/24, 2pm. My contributions: art from "Red and Green and Blue and White" and "All-of-a-Kind Family Hanukkah."
