as someone who uses llms, i'm totally fine, even happy, about lobste.rs being an anti-llm space. if you want pro-llm stuff you can look anywhere else on the internet. if we want a moderate sort-of-llm community we can create one. niche communities with hardcore value systems are good.

This is genuinely some of the most worrying news I have seen in the past few years, in terms of the ongoing effort to hold the AI industry accountable on climate Me losing work because the org I'm pitching to is funded by Anthropic is far more of a threat than actual competition from generative AI
Having worked for and with NGOs and foundations for most my career, I can't even begin to grapple with what NGO advocacy would look like if most philanthropic support was coming from Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Dario Amodei and their ilk.
Omg this is gorgeous
One week later, Pele is already in dozens of apps including Obsidian 1.15! Many improvements this week: - Even faster rendering! - Math resolver support: KaTeX, MathJax, Temml, etc - Gradients in sankey diagrams - Fewer edge crossings in diagrams with subgraphs - Sub, sup and inline code in labels

It's not psychosis, just business. I wish Arc had thrived, but you don't sell to Atlassian for more than half a billion dollars, on a product with no income whatsoever and with massive competition, without an AI angle. www.cnbc.com/2025/09/04/a... (This was 3 months after the Dia beta launch)

So, let me get this straight: @moderation.bsky.app can apply a !takedown to an account hosted in the @eurosky.social PDS and it gets suspended everywhere, even if you switch network providers in @mu.social ? This is not the "free speech != free reach" architecture we were promised.

Came here looking for a more charitable take. I'm not happy with Scott's position on AI but his work in Ink and Switch is very much user centered, and I think he's not an AI bro, but actually a person that would be willing to listen, if any of us could be patient enough to actually talk through it.

I built a fun little Chrome extension that lets plants invade your abandoned tabs the longer you leave them unread. To access them again, you have to slash through the vines 🪚🌿
