It's so jarring being in both gamedev and webdev. The main motivating factors for the majority of the devs are so different. Webdevs always talks mmr, user count, monetization, etc. Most gamedevs are just happy that they can fund their next game

Sometimes my adhd is so bad that I conciously choose to procrastinate, but then proceed to unconciously procrastinate the procrastination by being productive

It's still unclear to me what stop killing games actually demands. Maybe by design? Be vague, let petition signers decide what it means for them, then figure it out later on the review?

Now that the kobold is out of the bag... Congratulations to Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins joining Darrington Press! Their creativity helped shape D&D as we know it today and the team they nurtured continues to shape its future. We look forward to playing their next adventure.

Maybe there's a whole other gamedev twitter i'm not seeing but there's a reason almost none of the indie game success stories produce grifters or attention seekers or whatever. Heck a whole lot of them just stayed anonymous

Even with more and more AAA studios converging in UE, it's interesting how there isn't much movement on shared open source tools either specific to UE or focusing on AAA. I can think of plenty of reasons why but idk if they explain the gap compared to other fields

I’ve been both in my career, I know that through introspection and from external feedback. I’ve been employed as a software engineer for 13 years now and come to accept that my biggest motivator, the thing that most drives whether I do a good job or not, is caring about what I’m building.
