It really shouldn't require people to debunk this sort of absolute gutter racism but Somalis are strikingly hard-working people and this was noticeable basically as soon as they started arriving. They came legally, they're hard working, they learn English, they make their kids do their homework.

OMG, they just called me AGAIN to tell me that they are going to be late for yesterday's appointment. Which the tech concluded at 4:30 pm.

I was highly amused to receive a phone call and text message this morning (October 20) from CenterPoint Energy, informing me that they were going to be late for my October 19 appointment.

I went out to talk the guy from my lawn service cutting my lawn. It’s the last week of the year for lawn cutting, and I told him I wanted to tell him “Thank you” for the work they’ve done for me. Don’t forget to thank your service workers.

How come, whenever I make an appointment for a furnace inspection, the tech always shows up the very end of the day, after I have an 8-hour wait of being trapped in my home for the day? Shouldn’t I get a visit at the very beginning of the 8-hour block sometime out of sheer luck of the draw?

Okay, I'm rather stunned. Last year I owned a 2000 Toyota Camry, and I paid $60.50 for my annual auto registration fee. I bought a new (used) car in January, and I expected the fee to go up a bit. I didn't expect my fee to jump to $371.25. Yikes.
