Rory Calhoun in this looks like someone stopped halfway in a morph from Ray Wise to Royal Dano. Follow me for more pop culture references the young people will enjoy.

An amazing image from Twin Peaks, Dune, and Fallout star Kyle MacLachlan's memoir "Fictional Selves" that just shows how awesome Patrick Stuart is.

The super thoughtful Kyle MacLachlan on Dune, doppelgängers, David Lynch and why Agent Cooper is so close to his heart… Monday’s #bbcfrontrow

When I think of Badalamenti's later work, I think of dream pop, jazz, and dark mood music. But much of his late 60s work fell somewhere between Burt Bacharach and Motown stylistically. This track is a great example of his writing at that time.

This song was covered almost immediately by multiple artists. George Benson released an instrumental version, retitled, "Face It Boy, It's Over" on his Shape of Things to Come album (1968). And The Delfonics recorded it for their album The Sound of Sexy Soul (1969).

James Grixoni joins me this week to discuss Jesse Holcomb. We discuss Wally Brando, the intersection near the RR Diner, time in Twin Peaks and the continuation of Jesse's story as chronicled in "The Blue Rose" (spoiler free) and the experience James had to portray Jesse. The link is in my bio.

I can't be the first to wonder if this is a Dune inside joke, since Lynch and MacLachlan filmed significant portions of that in the Chihuahua region of Mexico? I mean, I love a good non-sequitur, but just wondering. 🤔

tfw you read the acknowledgements at the end of Kyle MacLachlan's memoir and sheepishly realize you've been interacting on here with Kyle's collaborator/co-writer on the book without realizing it. 😲 Um, sorry, @jonsternfeld.bsky.social! But I loved the book. Well done, sir!

Yesterday was actually the one-year anniversary of filing the final copy on THE DREAMER’S PATH. For David Lynch fans, I honestly and humbly believe it’s a playful yet eye-opening new frame through which to consider the fullness of what “the art life” really meant to him. 📕 bit.ly/4rsFNn9 #DavidLynch

I know people have a wide range of opinions about Lost as a whole, but surely we can all agree that "Walkabout" is a great episode?

Wanna feel old? "Walkabout," the season 1 episode of "Lost" that served as the first John Locke-centric entry in the series, premiered on ABC 22 years ago today. One of the great endings and reveals in the modern era of television. 22 years earlier, there was a new ep of "Tales of the Gold Monkey."

No spoilers, but the story Kyle MacLachlan tells in his memoir about the reduced role of Cooper in Fire Walk With Me is very different from what I'd always heard and read. Interesting...

If John Clifford sounds familiar, it's because Clifford was the screenwriter for Herk Harvey's classic Carnival of Souls! As improbable as that sounds, Clifford went on to write song lyrics throughout the 1960s, including a number of collaborations with Angelo Badalamenti.

Angelo and Clifford co-wrote at least two other songs for Nina Simone: "He Ain't Coming Home No More," also on the High Priestess of Soul album, and "Another Spring," which appeared on 1969's Nina Simone and Piano!

Still deep diving into early Angelo Badalamenti and finding the man already had at least 3 careers worth of work behind him before Blue Velvet. All over the place stylistically and full of surprises.

Went to a convention today for the sole purpose of meeting LOST's Francois Chau. Warm, funny, and generous with his time, it was a pleasure to hear his memories of filming the Dharma orientation videos. He signed our Dharma van, "Namaste...and good luck."

I really enjoyed the movie Rose of Nevada last night: the saturated 16mm film stock and unsynchronized sound, the inexplicable time-travel narrative, the Cornwall setting. And I love that director Mark Jenkin shot, wrote, edited and did the sound design. I’ll be contemplating this movie for a while.

Mayor Dwayne Milford says his policies are working. Dougie Milford's Twin Peaks Gazette says they're not. The patrons at the local diner don't know who to believe.

In this Washington State diner, Hawk still means Sheriff Truman's deputy. But they do know this: If Jack Smith had attended an Atlanta-Golden State NBA game in February 2024, it would have proved that he was in town to cover up the Fani Willis/Nathan Wade romance, thus absolving Donald Trump.
