last night i made miso glazed salmon, citrus and candied pecan salad, spicy sichuan cucumbers, and soba noodles then a gin + orange + chili cocktail with torched thyme and orange peel and bruleed pineapple and vanilla ice cream for dessert, which obviously is the only thing I remembered to photo

Anthropic software eng posts are always fascinating artifacts of like "what would you build if you were kind of mid at software but had unlimited tokens". Reminds me of old Google eng papers. You probably shouldn't copy them 1:1 but it's an interesting look into a world w/ very different tradeoffs.

really don't know what's up with companies that reach back out when they get rejected for comp and policies, having not made any adjustment to their comp or their policies when i think "talented engineer" i definitely think "desperate enough to lower their standards"

"Massachusetts voters will decide whether to override local laws to let single-family homes be built on lots as small as 5,000 square feet." i have an under 6000 sq ft lot with a _three family historic mansion_. it's fine! let people build houses!

A lot of software teams I talk to are trying to understand themselves and their own activity over time. There is an aliveness to it that I like. There's a questioning of just being handed metrics when you feel Claude could help you learn to wade through data. I see the mess but I just love it anyway

on a more serious note i am thrilled with this page, and am extremely bullish on agents for data analysis, especially for your own data Exploratory, building pipelines, optimizing against statistics, whatever - they're just very good at all of it.

rest in peace bram stoker. you really nailed the bad vibes of an elder goth bringing you back to his place for ambiguous reasons

I want to do a crdt on atproto project so bad

the one thing that actually does strike me as a killer use for computer-use LLMs is "pin anything" like make a gesture around a discord message or a website or PSD layer. have it figure out the sequence to log back and deeplink to that account, app, server even in the future if the UI changes

the pacing in this is literally the opposite of the Surf Dracula tweet. he's there hanging ten maybe five minutes in

worked for like 12 hours today. celebrating with a big plate of BBQ and the Bela Lugosi version of Dracula

My general advice for using AI for any purpose is to ask yourself: "how do I make what I am doing even more ambitious?" You do this over and over until you either hit a wall and thus learn the shape of the jagged frontier (useful!) or you find out that the AI can do more than you think (common!)

another new viz i'm working on: how long did it take to get one of my commits from written to merged? this is a great team-level metric. and as a solo dev using a ton of agents, i am now a team!

ok very specific request: are there any "floor chairs" you like? this is for a community space with a home theater, for people who want floor time while watching (we often cram in >10 people)

not a coincidence that this launched around the same time as the Monarch MCP (ask my agent to see how much is in bank account and spend all of it on novelty domains)

Marque@marque.at

We have an MCP server so you can give your favorite agent access to buy and manage domains in Marque (with your consent) 🤖 marque.at/mcp

personally feel totally confident that within 2 years that standards will change so that responsible open source dev = "1,000 concurrent but loosely coordinated checkouts of your repo undergoing agentic work at all times" some will still be human directed or even human written, but not most

neither people nor agents will want to use these hand-rolled repos. even if they need the ideas in them they'll prefer to reimplement from scratch, and as table stakes, add on a mindboggling number of security and reliability features only paralleled by what the largest companies can maintain today

this isn't even a really "you will be left behind" thing, because anyone will be able to migrate to that kind of workflow. it will be an easier workflow than today's workflows!

there will still be hand-crafted human repos but they'll be seen like repos that don't have a lot of stars, don't have licenses, don't have supply chain security, don't have maintainers
