Bluesky is a sort of open commons, but your feed, lists, posts, and followers are like a little plot of land with a cottage and garden that belong to you. You're free to curate and tend to it as you see fit, and build a little fence around it if you like, to keep out the solicitors, scammers, etc. 💙

Dutch greenhouse farmers are running Bitcoin miners among the tomatoes, using the waste heat to keep crops warm all year and cutting energy bills in the process.

"Google is proud to deepen our roots in Finland" As a documentor for many years, and a RSA-trained teacher of English, this type of construction still makes my teeth itch after some years.

Just finished watching the 2014 biopic of Stephen Hawking. Eddie Redmayne does a great job of showing Hawking's growing disability, although he does look like Austin Powers in the early years.

I'm just watching an old TV series set in the war years, and it's like being in a Vermeer painting. Every indoor scene has light flooding in through windows to the left.

William Orbit has just died. And I've just realised that, although he was four years younger than me, we both lived in Palmers Green at the same time. Nice to think that we may have watched cartoons on the van in Tatem Park together. A brilliant musician/producer.

One of the pleasures for me of watching Bleak House (2005) is that an ancestor of mine, one Henry Champ, was living in Berners Street in Marylebone in 1841. The London street scenes and characters would have been familiar to him.
