I'm very sorry to announce that I was one of the devs affected by the Obsidian layoffs today. At least for four years, it was a beautiful dream. If you need a writer with experience in everything from the fog of war to romance - especially if you're open to remote - please get in touch.

If you've been affected by the layoffs/reorgs today at Xbox, feel free to ping me if I can make intros to anyone in my network, you want to get tea (even online,) or want to shoot pixels on the internet for a while. Reminder that being laid off doesn't say anything about your performance or value.

I and a good number of very talented game devs were laid off by Obsidian as part of the Microsoft sacrificial rituals this morning. If you or anyone you know is looking for a Senior Writer/ND with more than two decades' experience in titles like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, please let me know!

Slipping out to calm myself down when someone explains the scoring of a board game wrong at the start, myself and other new players don't score anything, and instead of apologising says "it's a learning game, now you know for next time" ๐Ÿ™ƒ

First time playing with this AI upscale mod from 2018, and it's... fine. As much as I loathe the tech, it would be interesting to see what a more modern upscale would look like in lieu of a proper remaster

There's the meme about early 2000s game protagonists being the same gritty generic dude, but there's also a trope of witty sarcastic professional women running through adventure games in the same period (no shade meant, all fantastic characters and games!)

Supposed to make an end of year post here, right? 2025 was a bit crap, maybe 2026 will be better and I'll remember to post here despite all the anxiety and noise
