We need to stop blaming the results of this election on non-voters. It's a cheap cheat-out. Polls show there was an obvious rejection of the NDP at this point in the game.

"Even if everybody who voted Green had heeded Eby’s warnings on the campaign trail about vote-splitting and voted NDP instead, the Conservatives would still have won a majority government with a nine-seat margin." @macleodandrew.bsky.social writes. #BCPoli thetyee.ca/News/2026/10...

Watching Global BC interview an NDP commentator and a Conservative commentator. 🟠 NDP speaker - optimistic, diplomatic, generous. 🔵 Conservative speaker - robotic, speaking points, still campaigning.

I can't wait to get back home to BC and start budgeting to pay for healthcare premiums, big increases in my car insurance, and big cuts to public education funding.

The fact that half the people in the boarding lounge for my cross-border train trip did not know they needed to have their passport pre-checked at a different spot before boarding tells you there's a massive communication gap.

I wonder if there's any correlation between balance, muscle tone, and stability with standing while riding transit like buses or trains. It strikes me as though having to keep oneself upright (albeit with a handhold) aboard a moving and turning vehicle would assist with muscle toning.

The answer to the question: "If you find a spider in your house, do you squish it or put it outside?" tells you a lot about a person in one yes/no question.

Make out with a couple cute boys, have some local beer, make a new friend. That's how you have a good night in 𝓱𝓸𝓶𝓸𝓼𝓮𝔁𝓾𝓪𝓵 Vancouver.

Yikes... A very popular PrEP (HIV prevention) clinic in Canada is getting acquired by a company with a long history of problematic political alignments and data usage. Promptly cancelling & requesting an information deletion before they can hand-over all my health records for skimming.

Watching church-going, cross-wearing, Christian “Family Feud” contestants fumble over naming Bible characters, while two 𝓱𝓸𝓶𝓸𝓼𝓮𝔁𝓾𝓪𝓵 atheists sitting at home are nailing all the answers. Religious piety ain't the same as actually literacy.

Sometimes I forget that not every fellow fag runs as fast-and-loose with pronouns as I do. I referred to myself as a "career woman" and my buddy was very confused. My typical pronouns are he/him, but I also go with use/what/ever for me as long as it's meant with dignity.

There will be TWO elections this October, and we hope transit riders vote in both of them! It can be confusing to figure out which level of government is responsible for what (especially when candidates make promises they can’t follow through on).

Call centre annoyance: when the hold music keeps telling you to "go to our website to do this thing" when their website explicitly says you can't do the thing through their website.

I can't wait to age into the demographic of dude who barely steps into the (empty) train, then immediately stops and blocks the entrance for everyone else.

Want to check how busy someone who claims they're so "busy" is? Text them during the workday. If they can always respond in under 60 seconds, THEY'RE NOT BUSY.

It takes a certain level of self-absorption to be texting with both hands while driving a moving vehicle that has a "BABY ON BOARD" warning sticky in the back window.

With 22 out of 24 Ontario colleges having published their financial statements, we can have a good look at the annus horribilus of 2025-26. Sector-wide: Total fee income down 43% (about $2bn) Total income down 30% (about $2.3 bn) Net margin went from +8% to -3% (625M surplus to $160M deficit)2

Are Elmo's pronouns elmo/elmo/elmo? Maybe Elmo DOESN'T talk in third person, Elmo's gender is also elmo, and elmo are Elmo's preferred pronouns.

As someone who cleans his instant pot (erm—everything) with bleach, it freaks me out there are people getting maggots because they didn't clean the lid or… like… any part.

I couldn't find this as a GIF online, so I created it as a GIFt to the world. The Simpsons’ Mr. Smithers injects himself with a syringe, then smiles and flails his arms. The macro text "I love boobies!" is superimposed.

Seeing an Indigenous nations recognised separately brings joy to my heart. ❤️ (Also why all these games gotta be in Washington DC. I wanna goooooo!!!)

Malicious compliance: Bank says I cannot escalate a complaint until 14 days after I raised the initial complaint. So I sent the escalation today, 14 days + 1 minute after my initial complaint, documenting the 6 efforts I made to resolve the issue.

Oh look! Another Globe op-ed about higher education with literally no sense of history. (the value of various types of degrees are largely unchanged over the past 50 years, but sure, tell me more about how "everything is different now").
