Waiting for light-dark to support <image> in all browsers? It's possible to emulate fairly easily: #CSS #DarkMode

I miss the old days, back when people talked about "my agent" it was because they were in the entertainment industry...

I don't understand the hype around Chrome's responsive iframes feature. It only sets the size on load, so anything which changes the size after that causes the size to be wrong. …

When you forget the term "callout" and instead write "Give the link more big click energy"...

Thank you for this gift, Apple. Auto-updating the Mail app, and then requiring an import step that fails. Good job 👍

Prayers being answered?! 🙌

patrickbrosset.comPatrick - What's missing from SVGI asked around and analyzed a few different sources of developer signals on the topic of SVG, and here are the recurring themes I found.

Designer herding with reverse psychology: Feigning interest in one design in order to get designers to choose the design you actually want. 😅

This.

Call me naïve, but I think the Web should be making it *easier* to create accessible UIs than inaccessible ones. Instead, once you go beyond the basic primitives, the platform is a minefield: the obvious thing to do is rarely accessible, and devs must jump through hoops to make it so.

To whoever decides who kicks the bucket: I'm sure there's another 80+ year old that should've been before this one...

TypeScript is to JavaScript, as XHTML is to HTML. XHTML was abandoned bc it was brittle.

It's still incredibly pleasing to run through old projects converting TS into JS + JSDoc. I made the decision to cut out TS (excluding `.d.ts` files, they get a pass) from all my personal projects years ago and I'm still very much convinced that's the right move. TS as an authoring format ain't it.

Whenever I make something really cool involving SVG filters in one browser - it'll have some minor bug or performance hitch in a second browser. And in a third browser it'll just not work at all (most often Safari)... Every. Damn. Time. 😩

To install a PWA on iOS, you have to: - Navigate to the site - Open the menu - Click "share" (wtf!?) - Click the SECOND "more" ellipsis icon (not the first!) - Click "add to home screen" - Click the "Add" button This is, to me, unacceptably byzantine. Just deliberately hostile on Apple's part.

“...Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” ― Bruce Lee #NotATypeScriptUser

Desktop: “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” Some people seem to think that desktop use is dying - and use it as an argument for dropping desktop support. Ruling out desktop is too soon. #MobileOnly is not #MobileFirst. Inclusion over exclusion. phloe.co/dev/mobile-f...

Newly published tests show a Chromium/Blink engine running on iOS is 28.6% faster than Safari in Speedometer page responsiveness tests. 🏎️💨📱⚡️ This is a clear example of the costs Apple imposes on consumers and businesses, costs created by its 17-year ban on competing browser engines. 🧵👇️ (1/8)

Replayed Playdead's Inside yesterday for the first time in a couple of years - I thought. It was 10 🤯. Timeless masterpiece. I had a big grin on my face playing the latter part of the game with that marvelously f*cked up human blob. For a game without faces, it sure has oodles of character. 11/10

That is totally the math I would expect from someone wearing a diaper. 👌

Can we just appreciate, that now when a brogrammer yells "SKILL ISSUE!" - it's just a markdown file that needs fixing. 😅

Mental note: do not put `content-visibility: auto` on stuff that has content that may change to `position: fixed` 🫠
