The thing about JKR and telling folks not to buy Harry Potter shit is it isn't because we think it can take away her fortune and platform. She's so rich she would still be rich if she never sold another book It is because it is literally the smallest possible hurdle to clear to value trans lives

Some YA fantasy authors who to my knowledge have never funded an attempted trans genocide: Terry Pratchett Diana Wynne-Jones Garth Nix Suzanne Collins Susan Cooper Phillip Pullman Rick Riordan Pierce Brown Sheri S. Tepper V. E. Schwab Rachel Hartman Alex Pheby Alan Garner Ursula Le Guin And more!

In 1938, the Nazi regime invalidated the current identity papers of Jews and required specific identifying marks (and suitably Jewish names) on replacements. We are living through horribly precedented times.

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.

Once again, the FCC is coming after Colbert. This time they're refusing to allow CBS to air an interview of James Talarico, a Dem Senate candidate from Texas. So we all know what to do, right?

my son is five, same age as Liam Ramos. you don't need to have a child the same age to be fucking horrified by the violence we are doing (and HAVE BEEN doing) upon immigrant children in this nation. but that he keeps asking for his spidey backpack is the kind of detail that rips my heart in two.

Americans are realizing that unfettered federal power to detain and arrest is a very dangerous thing. I learned that lesson as a child when they put us into internment camps just for looking like the enemy. Don’t go further down this road.

My top 5 games of 2025 #1 Digimon Story: Time Stranger I loved the Cyber Sleuth games to death, and this game surpassed them in almost every way. Story, graphics, gameplay, number of digimon available. The most fun I've had with a monster catching RPG in decades. Pokemon, take notes.

My top 5 games of 2025 #2 Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Way too much to say about this game, suffice to say I waited 18 years for this, some of it lives up to expectations, some exceeds, some sadly does not. But the fact it exists at all, and looks THIS GOOD, will never not he staggering. Now for Prime 5

My top 5 games of 2025 #3 Ghost of Yotei I haven't put nearly as much time into this one as I'd like, but so far it feels like a perfect companion to the first game in terms of story and gameplay, it's probably the best looking game I've ever played, and it's Japan - I love Japan!

My top 5 games for 2025 #4 Donkey Kong Bananza Way outpaced my expectations, it's great to have a new 3D DK game after so long. Terrain destruction never gets old, it just keeps adding cool new levels and the final boss was insanely satisfying.

My top 5 games in 2025: #5 - Doom The Dark Ages While it didn't quite reach the heights of Doom Eternal for me, its hectic gun gameplay, shield mechanics, large open areas and challenging boss battles still won me over in a big way. Waiting eagerly for that DLC

Books read in 2025: Making Money - Terry Pratchett If I read Discworld slowly enough I can still pretend there's more coming. GNU Terry Pratchett.... Book was great; it's a fan favourite for a reason. Witty, funny, great characters - didn't make any money reading it though; missed opportunity

Backlog finished in 2025: Assassins Creed Origins Haven't played an AC since Black Flag in 2019. Love Egypt as a setting, Bayak is a compellingcharacter - story has some pacing issues at the end but still enjoyable. Resisting 100%ing it because good lord it's a big map

Books read in 2025 - Metro 2033 Been on the to-read read list for ages, the world is dark and depressing, it's view of humanity is bleak. Can be a slog to get through, but portrays the mental struggles and hallucinations felt by the main character in a gripping way.
