I defended my dissertation and started my teaching career using overhead projectors. Now I use a document camera when I want to solve a problem in front of a large class. 🎢🍎

Stanford Graduate School of Education@stanfordeducation.bsky.social

On "Version History," a podcast series from the Verge about tech products of the past, Professor Antero Garcia looks back at how overhead projectors were developed, how they made their way into classrooms, and how they changed so much about the way kids learn. #EduSky #AcademicSky

Preparing my first day of teaching, realizing my grading system (most of the grade is homework) is based on antiquated (3-year-old) assumptions about how much students learn from homework in this new era of AI. I don't want to fall back on exams being most of their grade; what else can I do? 🎢

A nice electric field simulation that lets you put charges around and see the various fields/potentials. Created by folks at Ithaca College icphysweb.z13.web.core.windows.net/simulation.h...

Happy birthday to Caroline Herschel (1750 –1848) a trail blazing woman in #astronomy. 🐡🧪🎢👩🏼‍🔬🔭 #histsci Hers was a real life Cinderella story, where rather than marrying a prince, she made a life and career for herself. Marriage was her expected role but she was deemed unmarriageable, since a childhood

For #WomensHistoryMonth: Let us celebrate the life and accomplishments of Eunice Newton Foote (1819-1888), feminist and scientist. Thanks to her experiments with gases in 1856, she became the first person to recognize the impact of carbon dioxide on climate change. 🎢⚛️🧪🔭⭐️🪐 #WomenInSTEM 1/n

Happy birthday to Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543)! This is my #linocut showing Copernicus and his model of the celestial spheres, or as we would say, the solar system. 🧪🐡🔭🎢 #histsci Copernicus is shown in green with a lily of the valley, the standard Renaissance symbol to indicate a medical doctor 🧵

#primarEdu

Day 85 Physical Sci - focused on building parallel circuits today using holiday card templates. Great opportunity for students to problem solve and then explain why we can get multiple bulbs to light up with one 3 volt battery, but only one if we put it in series. #iteachphysics #teach180

Man weiß nie, wofür man solche Informationen braucht.

Dear Physicists and Physics fans, I would like to encourage you to celebrate #WomenInPhysics Day this Friday, November 7th. Why November 7th? Because it is the birthday of two of the most impactful women physicists of the 1900's: Marie Curie and Lise Meitner. 🎢 ⚛️ 🧪 👩‍🔬
