"What followed was the discovery of a secret financial arrangement involving Trump’s son-in-law, the rulers of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and at least $2 billion. $750m passed into a UAE account also used to fund covert military operations. $1 billion reportedly went to Israel’s central bank..."

"It is now perfectly clear that #Trumpism is the manifestation of 21st century neo-fascism in the specific American context. That context is: Reactionary white supremacist Christian ethno-nationalism as a mass political movement, mediated by the contemporary information culture and environment."

"Fox News appears to have settled on this cycle’s October surprise, devoting at least 5 hours and 18 minutes of airtime from Saturday through Wednesday to riots in France that its propagandists claim are a harbinger for what will happen in the U.S. if Democrats triumph in the midterm elections."

In Brazil, it appears that voters who opted for eliminated first-round candidates roughly broke even in the runoff (even if the candidates leaned right). But the big difference was: Millions of voters who cast 'null' or 'blank' ballots in the first round then voted for Lula.

Via @stephenjcaruso.bsky.social, who really should post here more than there, I'm counting $8.52M from Jeffrey Yass to try to preserve a GOP state senate majority in PA (candidate giving, SRCC, and State GOP) and another $1.1M to stanch the bleeding in the state house, where Dems lead 103-100.

A serial rapist was elected twice as President, a fact we don't reckon with nearly enough. Now one of two major political parties has been molded in his image, run for and by violent sexual abusers who hate women.

It's really damning. The accusations are numerous and well-supported. But I was really struck by the descriptions of Trump's behavior -- the name dropping, strong-arming, and attempts to buy off silence. His gross rivalry with Epstein. It's all so familiar. It's shit he's been doing his entire life.

#Medienversagen

Before the 2008 crash, Wall Street hid massive financial risks using accounting tricks. Now Big Tech appears to be following the same playbook. Americans and our entire economy are at risk because Trump’s regulators are choosing to look the other way.

Ill-defined Republican forever wars in the Middle East, in many cases broadly supported by Democrats, have had a huge human cost, including the displacement of roughly 38 million people. This exceeds those displaced by every war since 1900—except World War II. Rarely reported in US corporate media.
