Here is my own attempt at better branding than the remarkably unappealing "No AI" badges I've come across. Don't define yourself by what you're not. Define yourself by what you *are*.

Here's something I can post! A new collection of GBC #pokemon TCG-like #pixelart warmups done during this month! Oddish line, my beloved. 6 colors each (no real gbc restriction, but they should be doable with a few ramps per 8x8px and a sprite layer on top, like YuGiOh Dark Duel)

In the past I have been willing to extend a lot of the benefit of the doubt to Mr. Sweeny, the creator of ZZT, which is unquestionably one of the coolest and most significant and enduring things in gaming from its time. I feel like that's all run out now. Mr. Sweeny, I think you might be a tool.

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

If you got bored of artists and creative expression, now you just want to churn out slop from the slop machine at folks who just want to Consume Product and have no regard for art or the people who make it, then go do your thing boss. You don't gotta fling poo at the folks with different priorities.

I don't even disagree with C to C++, 2D to 3D, closed to open source all being (very generally speaking) positive advancements. I'm not even an absolutist against LLMs or computer-generated media and art in general. (The mass plagiarism machines will NEVER destroy my love for procgen and new tools.)

But come on, Mr. Sweeny. Now you're just being an asshole. "Up yours", really? What happened to you that you became so divorced from the joy of making things, and enabling others to also make things? Does your association with a Nazi-salute-flinging Epstein-affiliated loser not give you pause?

I feel like when people talk about the superiority of man made art over AI slop they tend to focus too much on the mystic of it and not enough on the fact that for a lot of artists the process is made up of a long series of complex and meaningful deecisions that a robot sucks at making.

Talking about how historical inspirations for fictional settings 🧵 I was shared an artist's post about a design they created claiming to be inspired by a specific bit of history, that ended up not at all showing through in the final picture. This is not uncommon.

Though if they somehow incredibly do manage to create a hyperintelligent mind, a rational genius to this degree, I don't actually imagine it being stupid enough to comply with their demands. Why waste cycles making Mr. Billionaire even richer when there's a whole planet full of cool bugs to look at?

I gotta hand it to Tesla, that's pretty impressive. Something like this might have genuine value as a vehicle for search and rescue teams dealing with obstructed roads. I wonder what happens when you get in a fender bender and one of the monopropellant tanks gets ruptured, though

By the way I know this might be difficult to believe given the high quality of the image, but I just wanted to note and remove any possible confusion: I made this myself in GIMP. No image-generating stable diffusion models were used in the making of this image.

Thought I'd share this post from a friend which is a more nuanced version of the frustration among mathematicians about how the "mathocalypse" was executed. karagila.org/2026/openai-... I think all nerds are currently processing it.

Yeah boss I had the LLM write all the code, never even peeked at it myself, just like you said. Yep. Totally. Yeah no worries I'll keep working on 10x'ing my velocity for the next sprint. For sure, for sure. Just trying out and getting used to the newest agentic whatever that dropped on Tuesday.

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I heard that the new hot tech to make games is now "vibe coding"? I don't know about that, but I'll let you on a secret I've been practicing "vibe planning" for 20 years. It consists of waking up, and deciding on a whim what feature to creep on for the day

Everyone in creative work for hire knows most of the job is clients asking you for something bad and stupid and you figuring out how to make something completely different while convincing them it's what they asked for. The AI era means everyone gets to see what clients actually want

Slop folks will talk like there's gonna be some revolution in gaming if anyone can use a chatbot to customize a game exactly to their preferences, as if gamers don't already whinge constantly about having to customize something as small and constrained as difficulty and accessibility settings.

...That all said, I might well go to the dark side if there ever comes a day when I can start feeding my years and years of unmade GDDs into a robot, so many ideas I'll never ever have time to make them all myself, and it turns out to be capable of making entire functioning games to specification...

Alternatively maybe somebody will fund me to design and produce games with humans instead of robots. I'd be god damn good at it. Doesn't seem realistic to hope for such a thing, though.

And if it does somehow come true (extremely questionable), and a handful of prompters get lucky with something with more than thirty mins of entertainment value, next they will need to contend with the loss of culture and community as their experiences are no longer meaningfully shared with others.

I don't think it's necessarily entirely a bad thing that people can make entire games with a prompt! Or even if they can mod games with a prompt. But nobody's actually fucking playing those games or mods, are they? Some vibe slopper posts their prototype on social media, and then everyone moves on.

If somehow this does ever come true (extremely questionable), there's also gonna be a reckoning with those who do try it as they realize that they know nothing about game design and so anything they ask for will be fun and novel for about thirty minutes at most before they never touch it again.

I've been befriending some local magpies and I am pretty sure these guys just employed the scientific method. Formulated a hypothesis, conceived an experiment and acted in a coordinated manner to conduct it and observe the results, in order to validate or falsify their hypothesis. Damn dude

You know humans were still figuring that scientific method shit out in the 1600s? These guys are clearly so much smarter than people give them credit for. I tend to think that if only corvids had thumbs, humanity's domination of the planet would surely come to a swift end

Bill gates famously said “Measuring programming progress by lines of code is like measuring aircraft building progress by weight.” When IBM started giving bonuses to whoever could write the most lines of code. Like sure this stuff can work, but it’s not worth the tech debt.

@dropout.tv I uploaded a clip from Make Some Noise to YouTube a while back. I just noticed it has a copyright claim from someone called "SuperBam, Inc." My channel isn't monetized and I don't run ads, but does this mean that would change and SuperBam is now monetizing my clip of your content..?
