Every week with this fuckin guy #nzpol

Jason Walls trumpeting the ghost recovery always reminds me of this guy from The Last Crusade #NZPol

My 2017 case leads me to believe private healthcare has been leeching off an underfunded public system and the ACC for a long time. I was discharged from Middlemore in a wheelchair after being treated for broken legs but with wrist and toe injuries they ignored so IMO I could be sent private #nzpol

My toes were broken and reset badly, a fact I was left to discover when I started walking again. I have had two operations on them and would like a third

One of the most detached from reality second-hand opinions you can have on the internet (politics aside) is that Idris Elba should still be Bond. He would have been too good for it and he is now 54, and not Dorian Gray

Culture Crave 🍿@culturecrave.co

Final auditions to play James Bond are happening this week • Callum Turner and Jack Lowden are among the actors auditioning • 3-5 actors are auditioning (via THR)

Wow, David Seymour sure sounds like a bona fide cunt according to literally everyone who has ever personally interacted with him off-camera #nzpol

Billionaire Beavis Nick Mowbray won capitalism and needs to shut the fuck up so the rest of us can get a fair turn #nzpol

David Farrier@davidfarrier.com

147000 kiwis are not enrolled to vote. this election, you CANNOT enroll on the day. don't let your apathy allow the billionaires get their way. enroll, NOW: www.webworm.co/elections/

@bsky.app please please stop the feed from showing me the same news article and quoted viral video and ideally crappy typographic meme again and again I’m begging you

in 2000, there were 470 billionaires. in 2010, the number had more than doubled, to 1000 billionaires total. together, they controlled around $3.6 trillion in capital. for power and wealth like this, politics is less than pocket change: www.webworm.co/elections/

webworm.coNick Mowbray, The Billionaires, And Our ElectionsDavid Farrier's Webworm newsletter looks at what role Zuru's Nick Mowbray & the billionaire class could play in New Zealand's elections.

Nine years ago today a sleepy seasonal worker swerved head on into me and my car, on the infamous Mill Road. Left ankle and right knee shattered. I was glad I’d voted early. Simeon Brown raising speed limits while running down Health NZ makes me really hate the lying, God-bothering hypocrite #nzpol

Jack Tame’s yes or no questions are not the stone cold classic move he thinks they are and already make Q+A unwatchable IMO #nzpol

The corporate ladder climber’s delusion of infallibility right there folks. Cannot admit to changing his mind let alone being wrong #nzpol

The National party campaign has been an embarrassment so far. Absolute amateur hour, AI or not. Not sure if it’s Simeon being an arrogant imbecile and overriding the experts as usual, or Topham Guerin is letting him call the shots, but it’s nice to know all that donor money is going to waste #nzpol

I watched a bit of live TV for the first time in ages and the background music is like the Battle of Helms Deep except they are lowering a roof truss into place or making a soufflé

Can’t believe NZ is heading into a Super El Niño with so many outdated fire engines in such appalling condition. Media scrutiny of the coalition government is so low that they can get away with not only causing crises as usual, but allowing highly predictable and preventable ones to happen. #nzpol

If you were a billionaire married to Paul Henry, you’d buy him a leader-in-waiting slot in the ACT party to get him out of the house more too #nzpol

If Henry becomes leader it proves ACT is about perpetually platforming one vocal puppet of the filthy rich and is not serious about how many MPs it has Replacing a disciplined racist specifically targeting Māori with a shock-jock full-spectrum racist should lose them their Indian and Asian voters

This is it #nzpol fam, and Gary Stevenson says the same thing. A wealth tax is covered the interest they receive

Patriotic Millionaires UK@patmillsuk.bsky.social

Even with a wealth tax, millionaires like us will still be richer at the end of the year than we were at the start. PMUK's @stephenstroud.bsky.social explains why a 2% tax on wealth over £10m is fair, common sense and needed. Watch the full report on inequality via @deutschewelle.dw.com on YouTube

Mildred passed peacefully in the night and we buried her carefully, while fighting our flu and the rain. Glad we could give her a couple of good years and a loving send-off.

Tim A@pixelace.bsky.social

I was sitting against a fence monitoring a small bonfire and Mildred pushed her head through for a snuggle and a head scratch

I’ve had cause to say “all this were fields” a lot in my 20+ years in NZ but it was so weird taking the cat back to the vet in Drury and there’s now a train station across the road with its PA audibly squawking away

On hold to the ACC for nearly 15 minutes and they've played "Slice of Heaven" twice with just one song in between. It is such a shit song

This stupid social media law feels in part like trying to get one over on Australia. It’s delusional to think that the technoclutzes of the National party can produce anything that won’t be circumvented on day one

I spent a paltry 5 months in a wheelchair and am as sure as I can be that all the folks affected need this back now. It’s not something that can wait until after the election

Bought a water filter and got 6 emails from Samsung and NZ Post duplicating its collection, in-transit and delivery status, on top of the order confirmation one

Blue Bottle Games, as a policy, does not use generative AI. It's something we've discussed as a team, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided it was not for us. Recently, while chatting with a colleague, she mentioned it was useful hearing our reasoning. So: Sharing time! 1/12

I love Pedro Pascal but I’m gonna need entertainment news outlets, when they credulously parrot that actors learned an instrument for a role, to provide a grade or it didn’t happen
