Happy birthday Robert Picardo! He played The Doctor (and his creator, Dr. Zimmerman) on Star Trek: Voyager, co-wrote the episode “Lifeline,” and directed “Alter Ego” & “One Small Step.” He revived The Doctor on Prodigy and then on Starfleet Academy.
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
Walter Koenig passed away peacefully last night. 😔 Here he is, looking back at the Captain in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield". A familiar shot, as it's stock footage used in several #StarTrek episodes. We'll salute him on our next #StarTrek night and watch a Chekov episode in his honor! 🖖
Happy birthday to longtime Star Trek and comic book fan Anthony Rapp, who played astromycologist Paul Stamets on all five seasons of Star Trek: Discovery.

Have a white car? Listen to Bill Murray and turn it into a Ghostbusters Ectomobile. 👻🚫
“I think if you have a white car and you don’t put the Ghostbusters insignia on it, you’re just missing a real opportunity. I think you’d make better time in traffic with that thing on there.”
Happy birthday, Sci-fi Queen. 🥳
Sigourney Weaver has also voiced a spaceship two times (the Female Planet Express Ship in Futurama, 2002, and the Axiom from Wall-E, 2008).
6 decades ago, Star Trek premiered on TV—and changed the world. Mark Altman has brought together writers, directors, producers, actors, and superfans to talk about that impact in The Sixty-Year Mission, co-produced by William Shatner. Opens this Friday! https://regmovi.es/44VJI0l.
On this day in 1983, America met R.E.M. for the first time when they made their national television debut on Late Night with David Letterman. The other guests were Julia Child, Sophia Loren and John David George. R.E.M. performed ‘Radio Free Europe’ and the then-untitled ‘So. Central Rain’.
☀️ Around The Sun, R.E.M.’s 13th studio album, was released on this day in 2004. In addition to “Aftermath,” “Electron Blue,” & “Wanderlust” which were singles from the LP, “Leaving New York” was the first single, reaching number 5 in the UK. Here’s a clip of the video produced by Peter Care.
Happy Birthday to the late Michael C. Gross, who would’ve turned 81 today.
Credited with creating the iconic “No-Ghost” logo, Gross also served as an associate producer on Ghostbusters and an executive producer on Ghostbusters II and the animated series The Real Ghostbusters.
We wish a very happy birthday to Avery Brooks, who played Commander/Captain/Emissary Benjamin Sisko for all 7 seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and is the only actor to appear in every single episode of the series. He also directed nine episodes.
