"As a consumer, you should be extremely skeptical of any company who sprang in to existence in the last six months, and suddenly has six products." I think thats generous. Some have 50!

5.5 can one shot virtually anything. Most everything sold to you is so EASY to do that you could prompt it yourself. You are flooded with new things left and right for a reason. I _just_ tried it and it made me a thing that would have taken me a full year ... in an hour.

I have no recommendation. Its hard to tell, and it probably matters just for the person doing it the hard way's satisfaction. Note real hardware research - AI assisted or not still requires sitting on a bench and fixing physical stuff.

In case someone beats me to it d68c6ae12b596bd011452f21a21296c64d1c56a305e067475d26accb39916deb is the sha256 of the description of my idea.

Setting up a discord for early testers. Been experimenting on this platform more nearly two years. The interest in FM1/M-Vave and other FW mods kind of makes me speed it up

I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer. I'm more than a programmer.

When you read stuff like: “Yes, AI was used to speed up the work”, it often means the whole thing went from: “I wouldn’t know where to begin” to “Look what I made” in a few days.

Recent months have been hard on my psyche a lot. Slop has essentially removed all fun and most reward from coding. I've been doing a lot of ROM dumping instead. This is where I still get my dopamine. Take that AI.

The analogy I use to people around me to describe how I feel is that its like I won the mega lottery and can now buy anything I ever dreamed of. It gets old pretty fast. And You dont get _anywhere_ near the satisfaction from slop generation than coding yourself.

There's a huge disconnect on social media right now. One the one hand the vast majority of you scream at hyperscalers/datacenter/Anthropic/OpenAI, but most of you still praise and get excited by all the new software that comes out. Newsflash its 90% LLM made.

I've tried the tools. I know what they can do very well. I could keep on bitching that I can code it all from scratch myself in 10x the time Fable takes or not, most of you wouldnt care.

State of a small software business in 2026: The emails we receive are now 99% B2B AI spam. The remaining 1% are from real humans requesting a specific feature/workflow that no one else needs and no one will ever request again.

2/X : Its also clear to me now is that more than ever, we must strive/(continue) pursuing being the "Angine de Poitrine" of vintage chip emulations to survive the plugin slop mess that is on everyone's IG feeds. Hard work, no shortcuts. But will anyone still care in a year?

You are not using it right! You need to have a web of idiots check the work of another web of idiots. Then it will give you junior level programming results. That will be 100$ please.

Contemplating my first month with Linux as my daily driver. For 32 years Windows felt like home to me. It started getting less so over the years, but that feeling DRASTICALLY eroded in the last year until it suddenly felt like a fucking alien cesspool. I now call Linux my home.

Worked all week on a single download Linux package. Basically a series of .deb files with a script. Works so far on not only Debian-based distros but latest Fedora and Manjaro too

Aparently I just made a rather important discovery about the old (letter-less) RP2A03. Lidnariq (NESDEV guru just confirmed from die shots) essentially the lowest noise period value is different: 2046 instead of the 4068 in later revisions. This might change how certain sound effects sound

Also the internal levels of the channels do not (seem) to match the later versions exactly compared to a 2A03G setup as emulated in chipsynth FC beta. Watch this thread for more.

With regards to my findings of today, this was exactly it! The original ‘square button’ Famicom contain the old RP2A03. Got another report of an old mac emulator that implement it too. Strangely this was not known by NESDEV

your useless Famicom trivia for today is that there is a difference in the fire sound in Super Mario Bros. between a square button console and a round button console

The old 2A03 was used in the Donkey Kong 3 and original Punch Out Arcades, the VS series and the very first batch of Famicoms sold (the buggy ones). Lets see if any of those games used the `$F` noise...

Here is the difference between the two. First you hear the 16 different long noises of the Old vs, then the new ones. Notice the difference at the start - you kind of have the impression its stuck, this is because the two values are very similar 2046 then 2034 vs 4068 then 2034
