I think in the vaporwave community, we should be looking at the success of Backrooms as something we should champion. Backrooms in many ways plays on the same ideas that we touch on in the genre. At least for me personally it's pretty close to the themes I touch on in my own work.

I have personal rules when using splice samples, If it's Percussion, it must add to what exists and it cannot be the basis. If it's melodic or rhythmic, it MUST be heavily effected or edited, it cannot be placed in its original form. I find maintaining these rules always keeps things fresh.

in retrospect with the Drake and Kendrick beef, Realistically, Kendrick won with Euphoria. Everything after that was just extra fodder. Drake has never been a good rapper, even in his prime he only ever made pop music he was never technically advanced.
