Happy "You are in the house of Elrond, and it's 10 o'clock in the morning on October the 24th if you want to know" Day, folks! A quick reminder that there will be no PPP Plays livestream today. We'll be back on Tuesday, October 27th, at our usual time of 9p EDT.

In the meantime, a little question for you all: If you could spend today doing absolutely anything in the Last Homely House, what would it be? Exploring Elrond's library? Listening to songs and stories in the Hall of Fire? Enjoying a quiet afternoon in the gardens? Let us know!

We're going to Middle-earth! The Prancing Pony Podcast has launched our very first Kickstarter! To celebrate 25 years of The Lord of the Rings films, we're hoping to send Alan to New Zealand for an exclusive interview with Sir Richard Taylor and a tour of Wētā Workshop.

Beren's hungry enough to raid an Orc camp, Tevildo smells dog, and flattery might just land you a really crappy job. Join Alan and Sara for Episode 428 of The Prancing Pony Podcast as we continue The Tale of Tinúviel! Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

Join The Man of the West and The Shieldmaiden of Rohan, @aranelparmadil, as we finish our walk through of Christopher’s introduction to the story of Beren and Lúthien. Graphic design credit of course goes to our wonderful Megan Collins, exploring.arda.

and other folks from the Tolkien community! Then stick around as Alan heads straight into PPP Plays for the following hour. The whole celebration is part of TolkienGuide.com's 20-hour anniversary livestream, October 3–4! Full schedule and YouTube links can be found here: www.tolkienguide.com/TG20.

A view from Powell's Books, the largest independent bookstore in the world, occupying over 68,000 sq feet. DOOMED TO DIE: An A-Z of Death in Middle-earth by Tom Racine is a comical trip through every glorious way to meet your end in Tolkien's world. Equal parts dark humor and gorgeous, illustration!

Happy 49th Birthday to The Silmarillion, first published on September 15, 1977! The Silmarillion has a special place in the history of The Prancing Pony Podcast; Season 1 of the PPP began with this book, and for many listeners, it was also the beginning of their journey with the podcast.

To celebrate, tell us: What is your favorite story, character, passage, piece of art, or PPP Season 1 moment? What are you most looking forward to Alan revisiting when we eventually return to The Silmarillion? And what does The Silmarillion mean to you?

and - more than that - her neighborhood has become unsafe. I’d set out to raise enough funds to cover the A/C repair quote and begin a small cushion for her eventual move from the area - and we got pretty close. If you’ve already given, please ignore this

We’re making a push to show HarperCollins there’s real interest in bringing The History of Middle-earth to audiobook! 🎧📚 Our editor, Jordan Rannells, has started a petition and every signature and share helps show there’s an audience waiting to listen.

and her A/C repair would be necessary regardless of when she moves. In total, I’m aiming to raise $2500 for Katie. As always, please don’t give if it would cause any burden or hardship for you or your family. Also, as always, I wouldn’t ask any of you for your generosity

She’s in a bit of a rough spot right now: she lives in Texas and her air conditioner has stopped cooling her home and is in dire need of repair. With the heat of summer, and months to go before the weather cools, I’m hoping to raise enough funds to cover the quote she received for repairs.

Additionally - and without going into details that I don’t have anyway - her neighborhood has become problematic and no longer feels like a safe place. I’d also like to help her begin a small cushion for her eventual move from the area,

Today, on the anniversary of his passing, the PPP community honors the life of J.R.R. Tolkien. His acts of subcreation gave us an entire world where we can find escape, recovery, and consolation. Today, let us sing with the minstrel at Cormallen:
