It's TIME! TO! GET! HYPE! Today, I get to proudly unveil Steam Hype, the project I've been working on with the help of @hookshot.media for the past two and a half months. A new PC gaming site which aims to demystify PC gaming, cut through the 100+ daily releases and spotlight indies as much as AAA

Roman Sands RE:Build is out. After so many years, you can finally play our labour of love. It's deranged, it goes SO MANY PLACES, it probably shouldn't exist, and I've no idea if you're going to like it or not but that ain't the point. Roman Sands RE:Build. store.steampowered.com/app/2231460/...

Ok this is messed up AF. Timberborn puts out ads on TikTok promoting the 1.1 update. TikTok says hey, you want AI slop ads right? Few other commenters noting FB does this too, though haven’t seen in this particular case. www.reddit.com/r/Timberborn...

Fun thing to do: having just boarded a flight, turn to the person next to you and say “this is the flight to [city you are leaving] right?” And then when they confusedly respond just say “ok” calmly and not speak again for the rest of the flight

Every single time this is brought up, the question “what happened to Future Class?” Should be asked

It's that time of year again where I'm starting up GOTY machine again. Last years effort on PPG was not overly great (for good reasons I think, but still) so I am hoping to make this year's good again, in the vein of 2024's at least.

My plan is to be more concise this year; a bit more brutal in the cutting of things that are more "ok", focusing instead on those that are "very good" and up. In starting to put together The List™️, I'm already over 100 games down... by the 6th of March. Think it's still going to be a big one...

Ed just doing fantastic reporting across the board rn. Full article is worth the read, and yeah holy shit the complete mask dropping of CEOs in their disdain for humans in the way of their profits atm is, while not a surprise, still absolutely insane

I asked Saber Interactive if they had any follow-up comments in regards to the accusations that the studio replaced a writer with ChatGPT. I got a substantial response from Saber CEO Matt Karch. You can and should read it in full: thisweekinvideogames.com/news/saber-i...

JFC absolutely fuck Saber Interactive’s CEO. This just guaranteed I’m never covering anything from them moving forward

Nearly every comment on this post echoes the first thing I thought seeing the news - I want to buy every Compulsion game the second every cent starts going to them directly

Compulsion Games@compulsiongames.bsky.social

An important update from Compulsion Games.

One thing I haven’t seen anyone say is, READ. Go read something an article from an author you admire, re-read a piece you were inspired by, or re-read a piece you’ve written before that you’re at least “that was all right” about. A good writer must read.

any advice from writers for when you desperately need to start writing something but you can't because you're terrified of it being terrible

Great report from @jacksonwryan.com about this mess. To show you all how frustrating this has been -- ClickOut Media's GamesHub still lists me as an active "Games & Tech Editor", and I'm placed alongside their fake AI 'writers'. I've asked them to stop, but these sites are desperate for credibility.

Tonight I watched Flight For Freedom (1943). There’s a lot about it that’s “of its time”, but I was surprised at how hooked I was throughout and how invested I was in the ending. Uses Amelia Earhart and WW2 backdrop for its story. Even 80+ years on, a great film is a great film.

Spoilers for Princess Peach: Showtime, but gotta say Peach just going super saiyan blue and kamehameha-ing the final boss into oblivion is pretty great
