Retired from UC Irvine. I worked with smart people who won Nobel Prizes and with Peter Navarro too. I learned things. I taught things. I built things. It was nice. Pro-democracy by default.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the President of the United States sticking his fingers into young girls vaginas to announce to the crowd how tight they are in order to increase the auction prices isn’t important enough to be major headlines in every news outlet in the country/world.

This guy is such a pervert

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on Kathryn Burgum: "I saw them riding horses in a video. And I said, 'Who is that?' I was talking about her, not him. I said, 'I'm gonna hire her,' because anybody that has somebody like you to be with, it's an amazing tribute."

None of these people…entire towns…could give a damn until it actually happens to someone they personally need services from.

Sean Holland@sth85.bsky.social

Froid, Montana is a town of about 200 people right by the North Dakota border. I don't think anyone there has voted for a Democrat since FDR. Border patrol arrested a father of four who was a youth coach and owns an auto repair shop. The town is outraged www.ktvq.com/news/local-n...

I have independently thought this exact same thing for a couple of years.

Tressie McMillan Cottom@tressiemcphd.bsky.social

I have been of the opinion for about five years now that we are all mostly clinging to the *idea* of social media. But that it has not existed, as we mean it, since Jack sold Twitter. The minute capital lined up to fold social media into its technocratic political consolidation, it stopped existing.

All those people downtown yesterday, no ICE involvement, and not one incident. ICE shows up in a neighborhood and now another Minnesotan is dead. It's pretty obvious who the violent outside agitators are.

The saddest thing is that nobody expects anybody to do anything about the people responsible for this newest execution by ICE in the streets of Minneapolis. I’m assuming that person standing there with their cell phone filming a couple of feet away is in prison by now.

This is the difference between the left and the right in America. The left believed that those on the right deserve to have their own opinions and to live. The right does not believe that of the left. This is why we are where we are.

"What stayed with Amundson most, she said, was not the adrenaline of the moment but the realization that came while she was holding the agent’s head in her hands and keeping his airway open. “I was hit so hard with the fact that this man would not do this for me,” she said.'"

This sheriff is really pissed ICE left his cop car unattended. He’s kind of mad they took one of his recruits. Was 100% on board until they left his car on the road. I’m assuming he’ll shut up once Trump mentions his name and the death threats start. www.wwnytv.com/2026/01/23/s...

wwnytv.comSheriff calls out ICE for detaining corrections officer recruit: ‘He was squeaky clean’Video shows ICE agents detain a corrections officer recruit in the middle of the street.

He could just go out there and ask them why they’re there, and maybe learn why they are there, rather than just talk shit about them and call them all pedophiles.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Vance in MN: "It's really cold outside. We in the Trump administration want to deport criminal aliens who are sex offenders. It takes a certain level of committed to sex offender criminal aliens to stand outside in -40 temperatures and attack the vice president, but they're committed to the bit."

“ I dressed like a Nazi to attend public events when Biden was president” might not be the flex he thinks it is.

Please know that if your institution did this, it's a racist institution. Sure, many good people still work there and do good work there. But the school as a whole functions as a white supremacist institution. Proceed accordingly.

This must be weird news to see if you’re one of the literally hundreds or even thousands of university administrators who preemptively censored faculty, scrubbed websites, changed the names of centers, etc.

According to Google it took the Titanic‘s sister ship, the Olympic, seven minutes to do a full 360° turn.

They are supposed to NOT DETAIN FIVE YEAR-OLD CHILDREN.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: A school district alleges ICE agents detained a 5 year old after preschool. Are you proud of how you're conducting this immigration crackdown? JD VANCE: The 5 year old was not arrested. His dad was an illegal alien. So the story is that ICE detained a 5 year old -- what are they supposed to do?

Anybody with any common sense at all knows that the only way to ” tone down the temperature” when the sewer back-washes into your neighborhoodis to remove the turds, thy dragging in more turds makes the situation much worse.

Minnesota Star Tribune@startribune.com

Vice President JD Vance said he's in Minnesota to "tone down the temperature." He then swiftly said "a lot of the media is lying" and called protesters and observers "far-left agitators" without evidence.

Anybody who imagined it’s anything else is either delusional or in the MAGA cult.

I’ve been reading Trump’s "Board of Peace Charter," and despite the name, this isn’t a multilateral institution, it’s a centralised structure built entirely around the authority of one person (Trump). www.timesofisrael.com/full-text-ch...

The official language in Switzerland, as well as in Germany and Austria is… … German.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump to Davos: "Without us, right now you'd all be speaking German and a little Japanese perhaps. After the war, we gave Greenland back to Denmark. How stupid were we to do that? But we did it. But how ungrateful are they now?"

This is what I cannot understand, how one man… any one man… can be allowed to be this destructive to everything.

NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.

It was always inevitable to anybody with common sense.

Nick Miroff: After 9/11, George W. Bush created the Department of Homeland Security to prevent future terror strikes. Now DHS shifted from defending the country against foreign terrorists to deploying agents on American streets for the purpose of terrorizing American citizens.

America can never come back from this. The best we can do is stop doing it and convict those responsible and create laws to ensure it never happens again. That’s the BEST we can do BECAUSE HISTORY IS HISTORY.

News Eye@newseye.bsky.social

A teenage boy was walking home in Minneapolis yesterday when four masked men jumped out of a van & questioned him - with no parent or guardian present. He was bundled into the van & taken away. Bystanders heard the boy say: “Can I just go home?” I don’t know how America comes back from all this.

This does not seem inaccurate.

Christine Riter@criterdee.bsky.social

We’re now THAT country: A convicted felon is president. Streets are militarized. AG is investigating the felon’s enemies. Countries/allies - threatened. Press censorship, history erased, propaganda is rampant throughout the administration. America = shithole country.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

”Don’t call the murdering ICE guy a murderer because that’ll just make the rest of them want to murder you even more than they already do”, he said.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Saying the officer who committed murder is a murderer is dangerous, but it's OK to claim that his victim was a domestic terrorist who literally ran him over.

WTF is he saying? That stores all run out of “Whole Foods“ and that’s why people buy food foods that are not whole? … or is there a new goal to have “Whole Foods“ rotting on the shelves because stores already buy as much fucking Whole Food for their customers will buy.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Sen. Warner: I'm very concerned about the precedent this has set. If we can go in and extract a foreign leader just because we believe they violated our laws, what's to stop Putin from taking out Zelenskyy, or China taking over Taiwan?
