Power move.

Scott Colom@scolom.bsky.social

Walking the line outside the Trump rally in Corinth, I was reminded that more unites us than divides us here in Mississippi. I heard from folks who want to get foreign money out of our elections, put an end to flock cameras, keep our border secure, and make sure our veterans are taken care of.

No one in the GOP seems outraged at the other part of the joke. It's like - Oh, yeah. The Saddam comparison is totally on point. You got him. No argument here.

I'm really sick of how 'local' political campaigning has to pretend that people's concerns are unique in order to massage their desire to feel special and bolster the politician's claims to 'understand' them. These are universal concerns! Everybody wants this stuff!

What is Canada Strong for if we don’t remember or appreciate our natural and cultural heritage?

PSAC-AFPC@psac-afpc.bsky.social

2,671 PSAC members at Parks Canada received notice this week that their positions may be cut. These cuts put our environment, natural and cultural heritage, parks, and national historic sites at risk. psacunion.ca/psac-raises-...

I’m on tenterhooks to see if people couldn’t care less. For all intents and purposes we can’t nip it in the bud. So maybe it’s a moot point. But it would be great if people got these right.

Merriam-Webster@merriam-webster.com

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

Yeah. We can't ignore that last night's message from the voters is "We want to be CANADIAN xenophobic assholes who don't understand or care how taxes and laws work."

Clare Blackwood@clareblackwood.bsky.social

Unrelated, but I really hope that when I wake up tomorrow the answers to these racist-ass immigration questions will have shifted to "No," and please do not tell me I'm being naive because I knowwww I am, okay, I know

This is how ridiculous this was. The map of the province is showing greater than 50% support to remain in Every. Single. Riding. In other words, even in oil sands territory, separatism couldn’t break through.

I would hop on planes and fly halfway around the world just to go to a particular play or music performance.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

This walking dumpling? This liquid lunch guzzling used car salesman? This Brut for Men drenched, stretch belt wearing asshat? Shut the f🍁ck up.

Love the Obamas. But there’s a bunch of weird stuff in this photo. Why is he hovering his right foot above the ground? Why is Sasha kneeling on a narrow couch and where is she fitting her feet?

19th C. women of a certain class walking alone along a street. No carriage waiting for them. No servant or companion. So many examples to choose from, I can't pick one. But the opposite, where they did it right, is the widow Garrett basically trapped in her hotel room in Deadwood.

And yet, (many) Albertans just can't let go of their fantasies that they're being denied their right to unfettered capitalism by everybody else.

Or alternatively federal and provincial governments could provide sustainable funding to cultural heritage institutions...

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

This is also what happens when you live in community with other people. If you never overhear conversations on a crowded train or walking down a bustling street then you never get a chance to realize how many cultural touchstones you share with your fellow humans.

Maralyn Maralyn@maralynmaralyn.bsky.social

Passing by a few folks in Union Station, heard one answer "Me and Julio" during their convo and I couldn't help myself and I sang "Down by the schoolyard" 🎵 This is what happens when you're exhausted. 😂😂😂

Oh, please do not worry about li’l ol’ me back here being left behind. Please. In fact, can you be more specific about when, exactly, you’re going to leave? I’m really going to be fine once I don’t have to listen to you threatening to leave al the time.
