Hey Williamstown friends! Next Wed (10/28) 4:30pm, I'll be chatting with Kevin Dettmar (author of Punk in Fifty Pieces) about "A Half Century of Punk." Because nothing says "fuck the system" like a faculty colloquium. RSVP here: oakley.williams.edu/events/collo...
I had a blast chatting with Brendan about my new book "The Genealogy of Genealogy" for his Metamodern Meaning podcast! Check it out! (I think my laptop camera was a bit smudged. So forgive the blurring). www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnKL...

New ETV out for everyone! I'm joined by @profstorm.bsky.social to discuss his excellent new book The Genealogy of Genealogy. Great dive into a concept that gets thrown around a lot with not enough clarity on the baggage it carries. Enjoy!

In case you missed it when it came out my piece in Muftah had been posted without the paywall. www.muftah.org/p/prospects-...
I wrote a very small research note on Foucault’s reading of Borges. One writer finds his face at the end of the labyrinth; the other writes in order to conceal his. Check it here: absolute-disruption.com/2026/09/27/t...

Here is my debate w/ Hilary Lawson & Linda Martín Alcoff on “The Metamodernist Turn.” Caution: I remember gesturing like a madman which is what happens when I get excited about ideas. But I had a lot of fun! So if that sounds like your idea of fun too, free access link's here: iai.tv/video/the-me...
The second interview that dropped yesterday! A conversation with Hermitix. It was actually my first podcast interview about the new book. So you can hear me figuring out how to talk about it in real time. On youtube or wherever you get your podcasts. #critical-theory youtu.be/ilX3T5v_EpA?...
Three interviews/debates dropped today, entirely unplanned! I'll share them gradually rather than flood your feeds. First: a long interview for the Journal for Cultural and Religious Theory on cognitive warfare, critical theory, magic, propaganda & more. Keynote spoilers! jcrt.org/religiousthe...

The college is nuking our individual academic pages in favor of standardized templates. So I've made a new professional page. Trying to be minimal, all on a single page (for now). Take a gander and let me know if there is any other content you'd like to see from me there: sites.williams.edu/jaj1/
So this is happing (soon)! Getting myself psyched up now. If you are curious please attend and also check out the later session with Greg and Tim details. Opening interview with me starts at 17:20 GMT. (12:20 for us on the east coast). iai.tv/live/iai-liv...
Aug. 3 (17:20 BST/12:20 EDT), I'll be joining the IAI for a live event on Metamodernism. I'll be interviewed on "Moving Beyond Postmodernism," then debate Hilary Lawson (whose "Reflexivity" I clearly need to reread). Greg Dember & Tim Vermeulen close the event. Should be fun! iai.tv/live/iai-liv...
Virtual reading group on my new book with folks from the Genealogies of Modernity project. I'll even pop in for the last session. Limited number of books for participants. Register by July 20. Shaping up to be a great conversation! Details: genealogiesofmodernity.org/journal/genm...
Me alegra ver la primera de una serie de charlas en español sobre mi manifiesto metamodernista. ¡Échenle un vistazo! #metamodernism : www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0gh...
Nice to wake up to a new, very positive review of The Genealogy book. Some points of disagreement as to be expected, but really grateful to see that the reviewer praised my "impeccable historical research" and described the book as "an intellectual tour de force"!
New book review: Beltramini on Josephson Storm, Jason Ānanda: _Genealogy of Genealogy: Nietzsche, Foucault, and the Coils of Critical History, The_. University of Chicago Press, 2026. Published by H-History-and-Theory. Read here: networks.h-net.org/node/20155624
Really nice to read these generous comments on The Genealogy of Genealogy from Stuart Elden @stuartelden.bsky.social ! Esp. since one of the original sparks for my project was his observation that Dumézil’s influence was “a topic that requires further investigation.” Thanks for the thoughtful read!

"The God in the Mirror" a very short research reflection, I wrote for the CSWR at Harvard about a Japanese countertradition of self-deification as part of a broader piece on Apotheosis in Japan. A quick read: cswr.hds.harvard.edu/news/2026/03...
Williamstown locals might dig listening to me read from the new book this afternoon (4pm May 7) at the Williams College Bookstore. It may sound dry, but I promise Nietzsche, Foucault, & just enough goth-punk intellectual menace to keep things lively: #philosophy: events.williams.edu/event/an-eve...

I'm honored to be giving the keynote at this conference which has now opened a call "for proposals on religion, politics, and cognitive warfare, exploring conspiracy, interpretation, AI, and struggles over truth and reality today." It'd be great to see some of you there! jcrt.org/blog/2026-04...

I have a new article out in Cultural Science "Metamodern Theory for the Study of More-than-Human Cultures" trying to make the case for the value of hylosemiotics for studying more-than-human (esp non-human animal) "cultures." Check it out. reference-global.com/article/10.2...

Seriously, this is a great episode and I'm going to liberally borrow -- with attribution! -- from it for the introductory lecture next time I teach History of Magic. (Also, if you are not already listening to the Secret History of Western Esotericism Podcast, you should be.)
Back on one of my favorite podcasts, SHWEP, for a fascinating conversation about "The Golden Bough”’s uncanny afterlife in the history of Western Esotericism, and whether Frazer—long cast as a great debunker of magic—might actually belong among the occultists.Check it out! shwep.net/oddcast/jaso...
