there are a lot of queer spaces that sell alcohol and are places for cruising, but there should be other queer spaces you know? like a place where no matter where you are in the world you can make it your home and join the pharmaceutical institute on the mobile landship that also has a paramilitary

Got a little annoyed at a tool again - a lot of blender addons trying to add WASD style movement were 1,500+ lines and getting it wrong.
Unreal-like movement with panning, WASD nav and camera smoothing. controls configurable.

Hilarious and easily avoided fumble from Asha Sharma. It’s especially funny that this comes right after all those weirdly sycophantic pieces fawning over her as a genius business leader.
They think they’ll get fewer of the games they love if those games in particular stop making money. Still flawed logic, but not impossible to relate to.
a core reason why older games are highly regarded is bc a lot of those teams were never referencing games. they were referencing hiking in the woods, chatter on the radio, the sound of waves crashing, how an oil painting blends
if you are a dev, I urge you to find inspiration in other mediums
It's really funny that you can fuck up badly enough while using vulkan that it basically just goes "your GPU privileges are revoked" and returns VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST.
Me making my pipeline state dynamic to avoid specifying it: yes, hahahaha yes!
Me having to specify the state when using the pipeline: what the fuck, this sucks
Fwiw this does nothing on its own unless you have one or more agents installed, it’s just a local comms protocol. Still shitty, but not particularly insecure or irresponsible; you’d need to forward the exact port it uses for it to become an infosec problem.
PSA: The latest NVIDIA App update adds a Default-ON option that allows AI Agents to control the app... Might want to turn it off..
Even aside from being lame AI features, that feels like making security even worse by defaulting it ON.
My problem with Vulkan, beyond the tedium of implementing all the boilerplate, is that it frequently defers the problem of memory allocation to the user, which is a category of problem I fundamentally don't enjoy solving :V
Currently sampling various Rust webdev crates and watching the dependency lists scroll by has me dismayed a little at the absolute state of software development bloat.
I feel like there's something about Rust's upfront betrayal of intuition for the sake of enforcing a specific kind of correctness that primes people to interpret every single decision its creators make as "holy gospel", even though some of them are extremely dubious.
Like, yes, I get that leaking memory is "safe" in the sense that it won't cause misbehaviors in the same way as, say, flipping wanton bits in your programs would, but I feel like I should probably have to try a bit harder than to just call Box::leak or mem::forget to achieve a leak.
Yes, I know you can just make a memory ouroboros instead and the compiler also won't bat an eye at that, but doing that still requires more effort on your part than an elementary function call!
Bevy is neat, but it feels like every other internal system was named by picking a random CS term from a blind bag. I know the hardest problem in programming is naming things, but it lowkey feels like they didn't even bother trying. Like, no bevy, I don't think elapsed time is a resource actually.
I know I’m decades late to this punch, but I really like that in the hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy movie, the computer in charge of computing the answer to life, the universe, and everything is posed to look like its holding its head in its hands, deep in thought.
