I don’t care where you stand, if you use gen AI to communicate your point then it’s just moot. You clearly don’t care enough to put in the effort to thoroughly share your thoughts and opinions, and would rather just bow down to the slop machine to do your thinking and expression for you.

The EMD SDP40F was Amtrak’s ill fated first locomotive, built in the late 70s. It was shortsightedly equipped with steam heating, when that technology was being phased out. It also tended to ride rough on the poor track of the time. (Continued below)

After several derailments and accidents involving the units, along with new equipment utilizing HEP, Amtrak decided to part with them by the mid 80s. Some were sold to ATSF and converted to freight power, and others scrapped. One, 644, is preserved today at the Illinois railway museum.

Bit of an odd one! This is the Port Talbot Cooke 0-8-2, 2 of which were ordered by the PTR during the 1898 UK loco builder's strike, among a handful of other american locomotives imported at the time. Ending up with GWR by grouping, both were scrapped by 1930.

They were designed to haul coal trains, much like similar locomotives already owned by the railway. They served among a feet of 0-6-0 tank engines, and another batch of 0-8-2s built domestically.

The Baldwin VO-1000 was one of the better selling offerings in Baldwin’s diesel range. Featuring a respectable 1000HP (Hence the name) it made for a decent competitor to ALCO and EMD offerings. 548 were built for various customers. 8 survive, with a few more having been rebuilt also preserved.

Nevada Northern 40 is a famous locomotive, hailing from just after the turn of the century. Ordered for the Nevada Northern Railway in Ely, this venerable ten-wheeler is well loved by both tourists, railfans, and crew alike. 40 is under overhaul as of current, but is sure to ride again soon!

The UP TTT-6 class was a series of massive 2-10-2 locomotives, some of the biggest ever built of that arrangement. They were a crucial step in the UP’s superpower fleet, leading to the 9000 4-12-2, and eventually the 3900 Challengers. One survives, No. 5511, currently under restoration!

Not being able to edit posts here is good. It brings people together, makes us equal. Everyone from the smartest scholar to the teenager fresh out of their 14th birthday makes typos. It’s a beautiful example of everyone’s humanity.

Meet the Archaeopteryx, other than a sick name a fantastic set of feathers, this dinosaur astonished scientists by being one of the first late Jurassic dinosaur fossils to have avian features. It is considered a pretty strong link between bird and dinosaur. #sciart #paleoart #archaeopteryx
