Lol. Lmao. Service tech just let me know that someone who didn’t really know what they were doing has been into the Leica I model B, and that the shutter/lens assembly can no longer be opened without a high risk of it not being able to go back together

I do very much appreciate the tech knowing where to stop though. It really reinforces the fact that I can trust him with even my rarest cameras

bargain camera!! it really seems to be fully working and just needs a rangefinder calibration

hell yea got a rollei xf35 from the local camera shop for €12.50

Verified the rangefinder calibration now that it’s light, it was spot on. Popped in a fresh weincell, and the meter was also spot on!

I did put a tiny mark on the top plate trying to get under the leatherette to remove it which I’m annoyed about. But now I have a fully working camera for the price of a roll of film!

chat i decided to decline the repair and do it myself. entering my shutter repair era

repair quote for the copal 3 is more than what another shutter is worth, wonder if i should just count my losses…

“completely fucking up a copal 3 shutter” speedrun (but i have not much to lose at this stage. even if i fail i can buy another shutter for less than the repair cost. so i may as well give it a go)

thinking about how “i would like one egg ball from _the wall_” is a completely fine sentence to say here

love to buy a new sweater and then put a hole in it after a only a few hours because it got caught on a wire on my softbox

between this and the incident last week and i think the world is telling me i shouldn’t be taking photos

#filmphotography #deadformat yes this is very last minute and i am slightly treading on folder week's toes, but i was too excited about this idea to let it die

why is it nearly impossible to actually buy a film these days. i don’t want to pay for a whole fucking streaming service, i want to watch one (1) film

is apple tv/itunes the only place you can outright buy a film? (asides from blu-rays, which increasingly seem to be going towards expensive limited editions for anything vaguely not mainstream)

Got a print of this one made. It looks great!

Teatime at the Windmill Nikon F5 • Irix Firefly 15mm f/2.4 • Kodak Portra 800 Sat here and chatted with the molenaar (miller I guess?) for an hour and a half over tea, about the history of the mill and other random shit. Lots of fun and interesting stories. #believeinfilm

at the frame-by-frame pace i get this will take about five hours for a full roll, so I'm going to be a bit more selective about what I scan

Shot some film over lunch for the first time in like a month today and got yelled at for having a camera

some of the film holders were broken, so I fixed them up with some nice thin (but strong) 3M tape that looks a lot nicer than the silver tape the previous owner used (pic 1). And it’s probably less likely to get caught in the scanner this way too

It’s not perfect, but these things go for hundreds of euros per piece these days so I’d rather fix than replace

folks I got all the cables for it today and I would like to announce that I have a working Imacon Flextight III

Just got the camera back from service and immediately jammed it in the same way while testing functionality 🫡

claire@protosphere.me

Got it unjammed. Folks, don’t play around with the T setting on the shutter before reading the manual. You can break your camera.

Owner of the store was able to unjam it by taking off the bottom plate and manually triggering the shutter

I emailed catlabs (US) to see if I could get one express, but they haven't replied in a couple days. Only other option is to order one from China, but that takes ~3 weeks and I really need to be able to test this thing by next week
