one thing that went wrong in our political media culture is that journalists so deeply internalized a backwards version of 'the cover-up is the crime' they assume that anything that's being done out in the open is just 'a thing that happened' that needs to be subjected to the 'objectivity' standard

Philadelphia's Fairmount Park was once core to the city's identity but now has many functional issues. The greatest issue is the degradation of the ability to safely & easily walk around the park. By looking at old maps and photos we can map where East Fairmount lost river trail connections:

So when I was the editor in chief of the New York Observer I was determined to continue the paper’s tradition of never attending the White House Correspondents Dinner because it was an embarrassing trust eroding media suck up festival I thought was bad for journalism

I drive up Clearfield to Allegheny and then circle back at like 650am every day. And what I see is a policy of containment and not an attempt at removing loitering by drug users

A new report from the University of California shows that the state's decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr didn’t hurt jobs, or raise prices much. Data from over 2,000 restaurants shows that the $20/hr minimum wage didn’t reduce employment. /1
